Shadi-Dadi. Wishing you the best. I am 3 weeks post-op and couldn't be happier. Over 100 lbs gone pre and post op. Best decision I ever made.health benefits. Activities I am looking forward to this summer and beyond. No complications. Surgery went smoothly.

I had the surgery last Monday also. Let me tell you shadidadi it's nothing you can't handle. I had very little pain, almost non from surgery and the little I had was from gas. I had to get up walking very early because I think I have weak kidneys and I woke up having to pee. So I was up early walking to the bathroom. Already I feel like a new woman. YOU GOT THIS!!!! Good luck and were praying for a speedy recovery !!

I was having second thoughts on the or table as the mask came down on me! 9 months and 126 lbs later i don't now

Would love to hear about your journey? What's a sample day menu for you now? Are there any foods that you can't eat-don't agree with you? Besides the obvious Weightloss..what's the best thing about having surgery? I'm scheduled fir 1/29...getting nervous. How was your recovery???

Yep you will be fine. I was a first in my Doctors practice. I took no opiates to be put under and had zero opiates prescribed to me. O am sure there were some who were prescribed them and did not have to take them. I have been sober of opiates for 8 years. Now If I can be sober of my newest addiction. M&M's. Good luck Dadi we are pulling for you!!

I began my weight loss journey close to 3 years ago. I was pre approved and my husbands company changed insurance and I lost my ability to pay for it. I began to save money. Well, long story short, I had the gastric sleeve procedure on Thursday, January 16th. Today is Day 3 after surgery and I am in shock how well I feel. Don't get me wrong, I didn't sleep very well last night, and I am VERY sore at two of my laparoscopic sites but overall I feel good. My diet is progressing quicker than I thought (I am able to drink more ounces more often) .

Would I do this again? Right this moment YES!!! Trust me I have had my share of scary moments and even started to give up a couple times but I have a great support system and a relationship with Christ that has completely pulled me through the dark moments. I have no doubt there will be moments of discomfort yet to come but I can say I'm thankful to be on the journey to a healthy me! I've lost 16 pounds since the 2 weeks before surgery! I'm actually looking forward to my future!

I too am having the sleeve tomorrow! Day three of liquid diet, not really hungry but have had a killer headache the past two days :( I'm not afraid, just ready for a new beginning! Good luck to you!

I had a killer headache the few days before surgery (on full liquids), and I have to say that was my only complaint following surgery - a weeklong killer headache and fuzzy feeling from anesthesia. My hubby's theory was that it was taking longer for the anesthesia fuzziness to clear, compared to surgery I had a few years ago, because I was heavier and it took longer for the anesthesia to clear my body (more fat cells).

Just have reasonable expectations, upcoming surgery patients - it IS serious surgery, there will be some discomfort and/or pain, you WILL have moments afterward (esp the first week), when you will say WTH did I just do! All normal, all expected, all will pass. I'm only 6 weeks post-op, so those first few days post op are vivid for me. I sought out reassurance on this forum on post op day 2, and the virtual hugs and reassurance got me through it. You will get through it, too! And how incredible it is! Adopt a can-do attitude, and you will make it just fine! Good luck!

Donna

Glad to hear from you!

Keep walking - it's the best "medicine" for that gas!

Be well.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
