Willpower and umm....chocolate

Recommended Posts

I never throw any goodies away, I will take extras to work to get them out of the house.

I savor my two chocolate Calcium chews every day which are actually pretty good(CVS brand). I have found that any Protein bar that has chocolate in it is completely off limits for me. It is a candy bar to me, plain and simple, and I will eat it when I buy it and then want more. sugar free Chocolate Jello pudding is quite good. And when I absolutely cannot possibly talk myself out of it, I stop at Dunkin Donuts drive through, buy a hot tea with skim milk and splenda and a banana chocolate chip muffin. Then, I immediately park the car, break the muffin in half and wrap half of it in a napkin and the bag and lock it in the trunk!! And splurge and enjoy the half of a muffin which is still not great, but way better than a whole one.

I am an expert on managing to have chocolate and still maintain the Lapband suggested way to eat. I had surgery Dec 18 and have lost 23 lbs since the day I started the pre-op liquids. I could not live without chocolate in some form at some times.

Looks Yummy! Unfortunately I can eat EVERY thing there including cupcakes, I probably can eat 3 cup cakes in 1 sitting! I don't keep my band dangerously too tight to not eat junk food...LOL...they will slide right down... I have to have discipline

I 've made the same decision since I'afraid of possible issues caused by a tight band. I have to rely on my willpower and sense of discipline.

But when it comes to chocolate..willpower doesn't work, because mine is addiction! Maybe I had better not eat chocholate at all. Have you ever heard a doctor telling a drug addict : " have just a bit" ?

How do you know when your band is too tight that it is "Dangerous" ???

I hear many people say this, and It is true...it can be too tight...but how do you know when it is???

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
