Surgery yesterday - back pain?

Recommended Posts

Just had VGS surgery yesterday. I'm in a lot of pain. Did anyone else have back pain? How can I get rid of it? How did you position yourself to sleep or rest and night and during the day?

I had terrible back pain! That was the worst part. I could never get comfortable. The worse of it was gone by my 3rd day. Nothing helped except getting up to walk.

Thanks, Amanda. I'm having second thoughts about this, but too late now I guess.

I slept in an inclined position and had no back pain.

I had surgery yesterday and I'm regretting it too! I guess it is only because of the pain. I'm just praying for god to help me! I have so much gas pain it is unreal! Nothing helps! Every time I drink I have gurgling sounds in my throat. Anybody else?

I am getting better with the back pain now. My husband has been a saint and took the week off of work. I don't know how people do this recovery thing on their own. My heart goes out to anyone doing this on their own. You are stringer than I.

We've been surviving on the use of heat pads on my back and I've had to borrow a reclining chair to sleep in. I couldn't bear laying in my bed. Now I'm on to gas pain, but my incision pain has decreased.

Best of luck to those that just had the surgery. Now I'm off to take small sips of Water and Protein shakes! :) every sip is painful. Baby steps!

I still have the gurgling sounds. Its gas in your stomach. It's gotten slightly better. Or maybe i just got used to it lol! Back pain is minimal now. Incision pain is back cause i keep sneezing.

My back/shoulder pain was related to the gas they use to inflate your abdomen. I found that walking until I had to burb was the best cure. I did not have to walk far. As soon as your bowels start working normally it will go away quickly.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
