Whole new wardrobe at no charge!

Recommended Posts

Whole new wardrobe at no charge because I have full wardrobes in sizes 10-22 in my closet! I spent the morning "shopping" through my clothes and found lots of great things to start wearing. I was sleeved on Dec 3 and have lost 34 pounds, but because I had continued to wear my pre-surgery clothes few people had really noticed the weight loss. Next week it should be more noticeable! How many others have a closet full of clothes to "shop" from?

That sounds so awesome! I wish I had a closet full of clothes to shop from, but I've been the same size of fat forever and wear my clothes until they start falling apart. Right now my biggest challenge is trying to make what I have last until after surgery!

Congrats on your 34 pound loss - that's fantastic!

I do! Can't wait to start 'shopping"! I have organized everything by size already! Right now, a very sturdy belt has helped me out a lot!

I ended up with this many-sized closet because I put on over 100 pounds in about 3.5 years, which is SO unhealthy. I am a stress eater and my work brought bone-crushing levels of stress. Terrible combination. I knew when I met with my surgeon the first thing I had to do was change jobs, so I did in Feb 2013. First step toward success!

I thought I had alot of smaller sizes but they all fit right now. I was so excited last week to try on a size 16 and it be a little loose. Some of my cloths that were tight or too small I went right past and now they look to big. I had one shirt on last night and I told my husband that in another month or too I will be able to were it as a dress it was so long. This is just a happy bonus to losing weight.

I too have a closet like yours thankfully. I refused to throw/give away my nice things as I got fatter and I'm glad I didn't so I don't have to buy a new wardrobe. Lots of dresses that will be great moving into spring. But that hasn't stopped me from buying a couple things to add that I will fit into in a couple months! I have been so lazy- I've been meaning to "size" my closet like a store so it will be easier to move in and out of sizes. I will however be getting rid of my big girl clothes. I have a shelter near me and they will be headed there :)

I love the idea of donating my bigger clothes to a shelter! Thanks back2barb78!

I love your screen name! Do you have a surgery date yet? Many people find that they are able to purchase larger clothes at a thrift shop which can help you get buy until surgery and give you some wardrobe refreshers while you are losing as no one wants to invest in clothes that will only fit for a short while.

Thanks, Mooncat! Not yet - next week is my final visit for the supervised weight loss attempt (can't believe it's been 6 months already). I have a nutritionist visit and psych eval to do yet, then they can submit to BCBS. I was thinking about starting to look for some cheap things 1-2 sizes down now just so I have something in my closet - simple stuff like jeans and sweaters/tshirts.

I also had 2 tubs of work clothes in size 16-12, only a few twelves though since I did get rid of several of those 3 years ago since it had been ten years I was holding on to them. Most are 14's that was a size I was for several years. I'm now in loose 18, almost to 16. I have two outdoor bags of clothes to donate all sizes. Lots of it are things I won't wear even if smaller and 3 pair of 18 jeans that fall off. And almost all summer capris and shirts that are 18 and 16, since I hope to be beyond 14 by then!

The past two Sundays (weigh in/measurement day) I have spent about half an hour trying on the 16's so close last week, hoping tonight they will work ;)

I hold all my weight in the belly - I think they call that an "apple" shape, which is the worst because the fat is on your organs. It also makes clothing sizes seem off. I am at 208 and still wearing size 20W jeans. I see here where others near my weight are able to wear 18s and 16s.

I will be patient as we are all different and I am happy for everyone who shared here. It is so nice to have "sleeve sisters" to share this journey with!

I had so much fun closet shopping! Had 24s to 14s. I missed a couple of things on the way down and shrank out of them before I got to wear them...oh well there are worse problems to have :) If I had been more organized that wouldnt have happened :/

I am now needing to shop for real because the smallest in my closet are things getting too big. I have had to get new nightclothes, new bras & undies tooo. It is incredible! Lol i had some baggy undies my husband said i needed suspenders with them.

I dont want to invest too too much shopping right now because i still plan to lose another 40-45 lbs. Old Navy had a great sale at the new year so I bought the same pants in my current size and the next 2 sizes down because they were only $12 each. Hope Im not jinxing myself ;)

I was glad i had all those sizes in my closet to work my way through. There was something very satisfying about it! And to have that one special pair of jeans....the ones i couldnt even get up my thighs go to 'just a little tight' to 'they fit!' to 'uh oh these are too big'....well that just tickles me to death! :)

Great to have that favorite pair of jeans to motivate us! It can be a problem that we lose weight so fast we will miss being able to wear some of the clothes on the way down because they are the wrong season while we are that size. Yet, a problem we are happy to have! Good idea to catch a sale and get a couple of pairs of pants. It is easier to get by with tops that are a little big.

Too funny about the underwear suspenders!!!

Total NSV for me today...I debated about trying on some real jeans which have been hanging in my closet for YEARS since I've been able to wear them (as opposed to pull on stretch jeans). I took a chance and lo and behold THEY FIT and NO MUFFIN TOP from them either!!! That means I'm down from a tight waisted 28 to a comfortable 22 and that feels wonderful. :D

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
