I Am coming from Canada to TJ Mexico for a VSG with Dr Ortiz at the OCC Feb 4,2014. Just wondering if anyone had suggestions on what to pack. I obviously know the basics but was wondering if there is anything you wish you would have brought with you?

I haven't gone down yet as my surgery isn't until January 27th (also with dr Ortiz) and from what I've been reading, pack light. This is what I'm planning to bring:

1 pair of pajama pants

2 pairs of loose pants (I'm bringing my lulu's)

4-5 tshirts

Slippers

Gas-x strips

heating pad (it helped me ease the gas pain when I was banded so I'm hoping for same result)

Toiletries

Cell phone and charger

iPad and charger

Socks and undies

Protein powder

My Vitamins

That's all I'm planning on bringing unless anyone has anything that they think I should be adding :)

I have been compiling a list from other postings I have seen. I might add some of the following to what jaxtan posted:

*small bills, $1's and $5's

*Lock for your suitcase

*Eye Mask

*Ear Plugs

*Crystal Light Packets

*Chapstick

I am also planning to bring a couple shoe strings to use to secure the drain to and tie around my waist when showering. I had to do this in the past, post-op Tummy Tuck. Otherwise, its very uncomfortable to just let the drain(s) hang freely while in the shower.

My best to you in this journey!

I am hoping to have my surgery 4 days after you, Jaxtan. Which Dr Ortiz are you using?

I had my surgery in a California hospital, you may need to add body wash, Shampoo etc.

All I brought with me to the hospital were the clothes on my back (to wear to the hospital and back home) my toothbrush and toothpaste, a brush/comb, my Kindle (but I rarely used it since I slept a lot of the time), my phone and my IPOD (I would listen to music to help me get some sleep during the day since it can get a little loud, chapstick and my hair ties. The hospital provided the gowns, hospital socks. I had the smallest bag going in and an extra bag leaving since they gave me a lot of extra stuff like gauze (to change my drain) and a cute Teddy Bear that was used if I needed to cough. You'll be tired. I could barely focus on the TV (it stayed off most of the time).

I didn't get a change to use my KIndle because I was SO out of it!

Did you use your Protein Powder that soon or were you on Clear liquids following surgery?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
