Let's make mistakes in 2014

Recommended Posts

A friend just shared these words, by Neil Gaiman, and you might find them encouraging or inspiring... words to live by :-)

I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes.

Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world.

You're doing things you've never done before and, more importantly, you're Doing Something.

So that's my wish for you and all of us and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes no one's ever made before. Don't freeze, don't stop, don't worry that it's not good enough or isn't perfect, whatever it is; art or love or work or family or life.

Whatever it is you're scared of doing - do it.

x

Aww, that made me feel all warm and fuzzy. It is very very true.

I promise (hand on heart), I will endeavor to make such cataclysimic cock-ups, that you and I will be proud.

In fact, I shall start tomorrow! :D x

Sophiepants, many of the most successful people have made mistakes - but they've learned from them and gone on to greater things. Why shouldn't that be us?

It reminds me of something an old choir director once said to us: "I'd rather that everyone sings out as boldly as they can in rehearsal, because if I can't hear what your mistakes are, I can't help you fix them. Better you do it now, loud and proud, when it doesn't matter, so that we can correct it while there is time and have a great performance."

Fluff, those are great words, your teacher much have been very wise person indeed. For you to remember those words must have had a impact as they are very true. :)

Fluff, my choir director still says something like that. I used to be kind of shy about singing out, but he said to belt it out and if it needs it we can tune it up, I won't know if I can't hear it. And Indigo, thanks for giving me permission to make many more glorious mistakes, when I tend to make them they are usually whoppers. Now I will feel better about them.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
