So today is my first day home. I was ok throughout the day until I smelled food from downstairs. My parents had people over last night for New Year's Eve so there were lots of deserts which I want one so bad. This is my 3rd day and still have another 11 days on liquid. I am drinking broth but I hate it so much already lol.. I had a Popsicle and it didn't bother me at all. Some said they had pudding during this phase, is it ok to have it? I love pudding and I don't mind eating it all day every day lol. Of course sugar free. The pain is not so bad. I took half a pill earlier but not planning to take it again. I just want to be in phase 2 already!!! I don't hVe regrets but I just don't feel myself at the moment. I am following instructions and drinking as much as I can...

I highly recommend that your follow your doctor's guidelines for food. There are plenty of people on this website that have had issues with certain foods and nausea and vomiting. I promised myself that I would stick to my doctor's guidelines and I haven't had any issues with nausea or vomiting. For me it was pure liquids for 2 weeks - that meant Water, Protein shakes, broths and that was about it. It is only 2 weeks, look at the time as resetting your food cravings so that you can be successful at the weight loss and keep it off forever! A little discomfort and food cravings in the beginning will reward you with long term success!

It's a process but just try to follow your plan.

You'll be surprised how quickly you will progress to the next stage.

Might not seem like that right now but the weeks and months will just fly by! Honest !!

I was on full liquids as soon as I got home and pudding was allowed. You should check your instructions first, though.

Right now your new stomach is not feeling like a lot can go in there..You are in the healing process and you don't want to put any pressure on the staples....Also you feel bad because you just had major surgery and all the stuff they give you makes you feel awful not to mention you no longer have 80 % of your stomach...

Please take my advice: you do not want to take a chance by going off of your Drs. advice...I am one of those people who have had a lot of problems with my WLS and it is not a ride in the park....Give yourself those few weeks to settle down and take care of yourself okay....

Better now then later!

Take advantage of this time of losing..... your stomach is healing and is not ready for foods of any texture just yet. It will pass really fast and then you can progress to the next level.... :P CONGRATS on your success so far! :P

I agree with the above...It's important to follow YOUR doctor's instructions. Be gentle with your new, delicate tummy - don't push it, it's not worth it. Now is the time to start letting your sleeve work for you and make good decisions - if it's not on your approved food/drink list, don't do it.

Before you know it you'll be adding new liquids, puree, soft foods and then on to a regular diet.

Take good care of yourself and that new tummy of yours!!!

I am 13 days post op and STILL not feeling myself. I have no energy or will to do anything. My husband says I don't smile anymore. Not sure what the problem is. Physically I feel OK, besides being tired all the time. It is hard for me to get all my liquids in....it seems by belly just isn't liking anything I have to offer. I am on phase 2, which is soft/pureed but I am still eating my cream Soups, Popsicles, pudding and yogurt. i wasn't able to stomach any of the Protein shakes either until I had a Boost strawberry Extra Protein. I think that has been my savior! I too hope things start to get easier. I miss the old me!!!!

What you are feeling is normal..Most people who have WLS go into a kinda funk after surgery...It is all emotional...And a mourning for the old you...not to mention a fear of the unknown.....

It will pass, once you start to feel better and you see some results...You will start to love your sleeve..Trust me..okay

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
