Artificial sweetners

Recommended Posts

I am a HUGE fan of stevia. I mostly use a powdered brand called "Steviva" and the ingredients say: "100% pure stevia leaf extract". You can get it on Amazon. Ever since I discovered that my migraine-like headaches were being caused by aspartame, I'm all for natural sweeteners. I love agave nectar, too.

I've given up sweeteners in most of my daily food. I'm allergic to Splenda, which is in almost everything. Thankfully, I can have Stevia, which is in the Protein powder that I use. That's the only place I still get a sweetener and I usually mix it 1:1 with an unflavored egg white powder to cut how sweet it is. Thank you for this discussion. My husband is not overweight but has Type2 diet-controlled diabetes and is an addict to the splenda-loaded popsicles.

Good discussion. I know I worry about how much artificial sweeteners I use on a daily basis. This summer when I was newly sleeved and coming off a severe diet coke addiction I allowed myself to drink lots of crystal light. In Sept I gave that up. However I have decided for now I will keep using the sweeteners. I like the Protein powder I use most and I plan on using it till I reach goal. When I get to goal I plan on re evaluating and experimenting with natural sweeteners. I am curious to hear other's thoughts too. Thanks to y'all for sharing and thanks GG for the sweetener chart. Very informative.

They're hard to find but crystal lite has a few flavors sweetened with stevia called crystal lite pure.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
