Why does it still hurt

Recommended Posts

Today I had wedding Soup for lunch and a little whir later I had horrible pains like I was stuck. This ony has happened two times to me so I think that's what happened. I felt line something was sitting in the middle of my chest--like horrible heartburn then I threw up like slime I think. But I still feel like something is stuck and it's been hours. What do I do?

If you are able to drink fluids you are no longer stuck. When that happens to me I will drink something and usually the rest will come up that was stuck. It's a little gross but it works.

It sounds like you had a stuck episode. These can sometimes cause a little inflammation at the stoma(band site). This can be a little uncomfortable for a few hours.

Best thing to do is to drink some cold liquids to reduce the swelling. Maybe chew on some ice chips or a slushy would help too. Then follow this up with some warm fluids like tea about 30 minutes later. Stay away from solid food for 24 hours to allow the swelling to subside.

Call your doctor if the pain continues.

I am 4weeks post op and I had tried some soft fish and I got stuck it was soo painful and I spit up as well. Dr told me go back to thin fluids for a few days and start puréed after then and progress slowly. He also pushed off my first tightening

Stop drinking for the night... By the morning you should be able to drink. Everyone is different but warm liquids seem to loosen the band for me. For the next couple of days do liquids and soft food only.

I'm still too new to the band, so I don't have personal experience, but in the binder from my surgeon they do suggest drinking hot/warm tea or something like that to help soothe the area and help flush things down. This was one of the suggestions to do prior to calling them.

99% chance you experienced a severe stuck episode. Your pouch and/or esophagus probably stretched a little bit so let them recover by sticking to liquids and soups(no meat) for a day or so?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
