Not to side-track this very worthwhile thread, but on my FB page today, I posted resolutions that I think A person might could actually keep so I thought I'd share them here too :) I will come back with more serious ones later.

I love this question; it gets me thinking. My first goal is to get to goal (140) by my 1 yr surgiversary (Feb. 20). Next I want to hit my ultimate goal of 135 by May 30. I also want to run two 5ks- no set dates yet. Lastly, I want to maintain my loss sucessfully for 6 months so I can get a plastics consult.

Erp,

I hope you make your goal of 140 for your 1st surgiversary. That is also my goal weight. As we get closer to goal the harder it is to get it off. Seems to be permanently attached. I am not a runner but wish you well on your two 5Ks.

I too hope to have plastics later. Will wait to take inventory at the end and see what needs fixing and what the budget can afford.

Thank you for posting and I look forward to your progress in 2014.

Thanks Ribearty! These last few pounds are hard! I'm thinking of low carbing it and upping the fluids for a few weeks to see if that helps. I'll keep everyone posted. Happy New Year!

Pjackson,

Welcome. I like your resolution in http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/292893-my-ny-resolution/

I plan to post periodically to this thread throughout the year for updates. Not sure if it will be monthly or quarterly. If anyone following has a suggestion, please feel free to post.

My resolutions are to have this be the last year where weight loss can and should show up on my resolutions. Ribearty I loved that idea of yours.

Also I want to get some balance back in my life. I want to be at a point where I'm not obsessing about trackjng, monitoring, worrying, focusing on weight weight weight. I want all this to become more of a habit, and less of a chore. I want to not spend hours a day wondering how to balance my Protein, fat, and carbs etc. I want, in other words, to stop overthinking this and just live. Yes I am type A. Why do you ask? :P

I want to find an exercise I like and make a priority out of it

And I want to keep thinking about this a bit more :)

Thanks for starting this thread!

I guess I'm going to be the wet blanket....but my NY resolution is always the same: to remain happy and content with my life. Whether that means pushing myself to finish another degree, exercising more, building better relationships....it doesn't matter. The ultimate goal is to always end the year on a positive note :)

I spent way too many years making specific goals (usually related to weight) and failing miserably. My happiness isn't tied to one specific thing. It's more a lifestyle than a resolution, I suppose.

Edited to add...so technically I guess these don't count as resolutions, but these are the top priorities on my to-do list:

1. Make Jillian Michaels my bitch. I started her Ripped in 30 DVDs last night and they are kicking my butt!

2. Work on my social life. I need more friends (all my 20something friends have turned into 30somethings with kid centric lives) with more in common with my current life.

3. Dating....I'm definitely ready to dip my toes in the pool again!

I did this just for you, Ribbie :) See, I can play well with others! lol

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
