Not sure if i made the best decision

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved 12/18/13. Not sure if I made the best decision. I am in a lot of pain. Can barely drink Water. I can't talk to my family because I don't want them saying I told you not to do it. I had a few sips of chicken broth today. Jello sf is too sweet. I need help

Don't doubt yourself or your decision, the first few days are rough, but it gets better, I promise. I'm 15 days out and my 1st week was horrible, I couldn't sleep laying down, I felt like I pulled a muscle under 1 incision, and then I had an allergic reaction to the adesive which made me feel worse.

sip what you can and take your meds.

What helped me was walking, my surgeon scared me so bad about geting a blood clot, I was up walking every hour. Now it was uncomfortable to walk, until I figured out I needed to carry my belly, by holding up my belly it wasn't pulling on my incisions and didn't hurt as bad, then I started wearing my Spanx and that helped me be able to sleep laying down and it helped with the pain. By 8 days out I wasn't using anything for pain, even tylenol.

Now I'm 15 days out and I feel normal.

A support system is important, your family may be trying to say they told you so right now, maybe you just need to tell them to keep any negative thoughts to themselves right now while you heal and while you need them. Because as you feel better and your weight drops, it will be you who will be able to say I told you so.

Hang in there

All good advice take it slow and if Water is hard to get down perhaps some hot tea with honey will make you feel better. Perhaps your back pain is the gas from from the anethesia you had for your surgery. Don't worry about small steps with some people it is slower than others. You will get better and your aches and pain will subside and you will eventurally feel fantastic. Don't worry take it one day at a time and as soon as you can, start going to support group. You will be much better off by doing that also.

Good luck and keep us all apprized of your progress, we all care about you.

Mark, Edmond Ok

I was sleeved on 12/17 n still in pain n swollen. My upper back is killing me too due to not getting in a comfortable position to sleep. Walking has helped me n doing ok on the broth n drinking my Water with Crystal light n some Jello. Still having rumblings n cramps on stomach, Has using a heating pad on stomach helped anyone?

I was sleeved the same day! The heating pad has saved my life!

Sip sip sip and walk walk walk. Use your incentive spirometer!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
