Curious..........

So before I ask this question, let me just say "Yes, I am aware of the empty calories and this should not be a habit." Is there any other reason besides the calories as to why you should not drink alcohol? I am young, I want to be able to go out and enjoy a drink or two with my friends occasionally. With that being said I usually only go out about 5 times a year. Thoughts??

I don't have personal experience with drinking yet but from what I understand an occasional drink after about 4 months out is fine :)

I don't think so. Before I was banded 5 years ago, I was a big beer drinker. After I got banded, I found I couldn't drink beer like I use to be use my little stomach just couldn't take the carbonation of the beer. So now I drink rum, gin, vodka, wine, etc with juice, sometimes with pop. For me it's knowing that that I'm taking in a lot of calories but it's something I only do once every other month at most. Life's to short to not have a good time once in a while.

I frequently have wine with dinner. It is not an issue for me and I count the calories and manage accordingly on those occasions where I have more than one :-D

I did not drink for a few months after my first weight loss surgery, and when I did, the amount it took to get light headed was a very small amount.

I had revision surgery on 10/25/13 and my doctor does not recommend you drink alcohol until six months out. I know when I have my next drink it will not take much to feel it especially with the sleeve since you have so little stomach area to absorb the alcohol.

When you do partake, do it in moderation. It sounds like you have a good plan in place to not over do it.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
