Here is my true holiday party confession. I forgot who I was.

Okay, who my stomach now is.

Had a second glass of wine (danger Will Robinson.) Then someone ordered some flatbread pizzas, and I thought, "Genius! Good idea. This will soak up the alcohol."

How many mistakes had I made thus far, people? Are you keeping count?? So then I had two small squares of the pizza, and felt the hiccups come on. And then mentally hit my hand to my forehead. I forgot that I enjoy chatting so much…and that I don't always pay attention.

Can't do this, this way, anymore.

But when I got home I dutifully calculated everything, and found that I was only a little over 1200 calories for the day. Since then, I have been more careful and other than an eye sprain from rolling my eyes at myself it's all good.

HOWEVER, I think if I had not been in the habit of tracking I would have been either feeling like I had ruined everything, OR underestimating the damages. (1200 calories is 150% of what I should be eating daily, so it's significant.) And the entire overage was in stuff that has questionable nutritional value. So. Back on track, literally and figuratively.

And a much better plan going into the next party. Nothing like getting cocky and then getting knocked down.

Gah I did something similar last night only I thought I could eat a sliver of cheese cake after prime rib.

I soooo thought meh I haven't had anything good like this in 6 months I'll be good from now on......

I got the worst stomach ache after we almost had to leave. I however made myself stay and reap my rewarded gut ache for another 30 minutes! I knew better and did it bc I wasn't REALLY thinking! Lesson learned

Now I must go track it and see the damage!!

For the OP, I hear ya! I'm 2.5 years out and the days of eating a bite or two and being stuffed are long behind me. Not that I don't have restriction- I do, but I could easily eat enough to gain at pretty rapid clip. I told myself my present to me this year is to get to Christmas at goal weight. I had started eating a lot of extras in early fall, and by time time Thanksgiving rolled by, it was time to put the brakes on. I am not eating sugar on most days, no fatty Snacks, no Snacks after dinner, and I'm tracking my Fluid intake. It's working for me. I do have lots of low calorie holiday treats, such as sugar free hot cider and Greek yogurt spinach dip with crudités. And I'm doing a ton of holiday stuff with family and friends.

Instead of thinking of watching what you eat as a punishment, think of it as your gift to yourself.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
