When did the gas pain go away? Everthing i swallow my stomach acts as if its throwing up bubbles. Kinda like a culligan Water machine when you put a new tank on!

Walking helps a lot (both for surgical gas and intestinal gas). I felt bloated all the time at first...like I was going to explode. I took GasX strips 1-2x day until day 11 when suddenly there was no more gas. I'm feeling bloated again now that I've started puréed foods, but not bad enough to take anything for it. Again, the old backup of walking helps a lot.

Just a little update. I am 2 & 1/2 months out and down 40lbs. Feeling great, just trying to be patient and enjoy the journey. I've worked and will continue to work very hard for my loss. I work out everyday and I eat very clean. The only thing that has made this possible is not having the hunger pains and my restriction. I don't regret it for a second. Just wish I did it sooner.

Just wanted to say that this has been so helpful. I know that everyone's recovery will be a little different, but as someone very early in this process, I found this information quite reassuring. Best of luck to you!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
