Not right after..you need to heal first...As you lose the weight and you don't feel like you are secure in your clothes..Look into them then and they will help make you feel better... and look tighter...K

I do on set and when I'm going out to look nice, but not on a daily basis.
I'd wait until you loose the first 50-60 lbs to worry about it, though :-)

I wear them on special occasions but didn't start until I hit 70 lbs of weight loss.

Hello everyone,

I had my pre-op class, labs and appointment with surgeon yesterday. In the class, led by a RN who had gastric bypass, she said we'll recieve an abdominal binder when we are discharged. She said some feel like their insides are different and they feel more comfortable using an abdominal binder.

My husband is 100% disabled due to several abdominal surgeries that failed--NOT WLS related. He has a terrible abdominal hernia. He actually has to wear two abdominal binders because of his hernia. I've actually ordered replacement abdominal binders online through Amazon.com. He's a big guy so they do have larger sizes.

Just wanted to put the information out there in case it's helpfull to anyone.

My surgery is coming and I can't wait to be on the looser's bench!

I got the binder from the hospital and I was glad I had it. I had to use it for the first 3weeks after but really help especially. when I has sleeping. I did not like it in the recovery room I woke up and was trying to pull it off.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
