I am 5 days postoperative. The port area sometimes gets a muscle spasm feeling. Is this normal? Has anybody else ever experienced this?

Yes. I felt like I did 5000 sit ups, but it gets better each day.

The first four to six weeks you are going to experience what feels like spasms, pulling or other weird sensations with your port. It isn't unusual at all. Part of it is also you are just so aware of something being there that wasn't there before. It will settle in, you will heal and soon you will hardly even think about it.

Sorry, I feel so stupid but where is my port. Which hole is it. :)

Hi there, ports are placed in different places so we don't know. I can feel mine just above and to the lest of my belly button. I am three and a half weeks and for me walking has helped with everything -- it kicked my body into healing mode to begin with and now we are shedding. Love this! Even ten minutes walking a few times a day and you are there. Best wishes!

It's not a hole. Your port should be somewhere below the port incision that your surgeon made. Usually to the left of the midline, just above your belly button. If you palate the area (gently! You're still healing there and bound to be a bit sore) you should be able to find it.

I haven't gone digging for mine, yet. Mr. Porty hasn't given me too much grief and I don't want to give him any excuses. I'll wait for my follow up and let my surgeon show me where, exactly my port resides. :)

Thank you, the reason I ask is that incission came open. I went to ER Wednesday and he dressed it and said to call my surgion and go see him. I called today and he asked if it was the port, I have no clue, why was that not in one of our classes. I am 11 days out of surgery and I don't want an infection. I will never have surgery so close to a holiday.

most doctors have their area that they will put a port but sometimes during surgery they have to change their port site to another place because of your anatomy. the largest incision you have is the port incision. your port should be right there. if you have an incision that has come apart you need to see your surgeon. it is his responsibility to insure you don't have a infection started or another problem. my port is to the right of midstern and about 2 inches below my rib cage. so you see by the postings that a port could be almost anywhere. again you need to see the surgeon. good luck

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
