Sleeve sister, love it! Lol. Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, IL. It's a suburb of Chicago. How about you?

I'm right there with ya! I've had many surgeries (c-section, laparotomy for a tumor removal, laparoscopic procedures to remove adhesions, etc.), but I'm more scared of this one than any of the others. I'm realizing my mortality, I think. I don't want to leave my 5-year-old motherless. But I keep trying to remind myself that if I stay on this unhealthy path, I will be doing that too. I work in the legal field, so I'm aware of malpractice suits and that's what's scaring me, I think.

Yeah. I get to feeling that way too. But then I think of all of the reasons I need to do the surgery and it keeps me going. I have spinal problems and need this pressure off my spine and joints. Also have sleep apnea and high bp. This surgery is gonna be a lifesaver.

April.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
