Is Starbucks Bad And Evil?

Recommended Posts

I have a tall soy latte. Seeing the calorie count front and center keeps me away from the baked goods. Lemon cake with icing for 500 calories? No thanks.

Skim milk sugar free vanilla steamer. Protein and tastes like a treat! No need for the Rice Krispie treats I always bought

Nonfat grande earl grey tea latte with sugar free vanilla Syrup. 70 calories. I have one every weekday morning since I started the new job in October.

It's my indulgence, definitely.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts on my Starbucks dilemna. Lots of excellent options here for those occasional visits. it helps me to plan ahead. I know it won't take long before I'm asked to join someone at Starbucks. It feels good to know there are options.

Like many of you, I had to quit caffeine prior to surgery. That was less than fun, but I'm amazed how much better I feel. I'd like to stay off. I'm thinking a Decaf tea with skim milk and Splenda might just do the trick.

Hi, I am about 6 weeks out from surgery, and I must say that while I have been very very good with my food intake, I have had Starbucks or coffee shop drinks a few times a week for the last several weeks. I do have skinny lattes, but I often order a grande, and it takes me well over an hour to finish it. I feel like that is some milk Protein intake, and it goes down so easily, with no side effects, that I don't intend to give it up. I often have that as lunch. Maybe this is bad, but it is my only caffeine intake for the day, and I am not giving it up!! I have resisted the pumpkin spice or gingerbread lattes, because the 300+ calorie count is just too much to think about (oh how I used to down those before surgery !!).

I am down almost 30 lbs... so happy with my sleeve!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.Β  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.Β  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❀️ Together, we got this!
