I Am Back, It Has Been Awhile.

Hi all for some reason, I stopped getting emails from this group. I had my lapband done 2/2/10 and I lost 89 lbs in 15 months and then about 7 more. At this time I gained about 10 back, in the past 7 months I have had quite a few surgeries and procedures on my legs. Which made my exercise difficult.

I also want to say that if any of you read the wonderful Lapband Surgery book by Alex. I am the Ilene from Florida and New York. I think my head swelled up when I saw the book. There are 11 pages with me. At this juncture of my like I would like to create more friendships. I need support to remove this 10 lbs. Oh funny thing is that I shrunk 2 inches so that really messed up my bmi. I am now 65 years old and the old grey mare, she ain't what she used to be. Please friend me and share your success. Hugs

Hi Ilene and welcome back. Thanks for sharing your success -- very inspiring for those of us just starting out! Look forward to seeing you on the forum! It's being redesigned so is a bit confusing right now -- glad you found us. Best wishes for this next reboot and the ten pounds - and I hope you are recovering well from all the surgery. Mobility is so important. My husband has ambulatory issues so we are very familiar with that world. He is recovering from another foot surgery, no longer using a leg brace but still difficult to walk much without severe nerve pain. Biking seems like the future path for him as far as exercise. Just got to strap the foot to the pedal!

the old grey mare, she ain't what she used to be.

Ha! Good one!

Hi Ilene!!

I've been banded for two years and a half, sise may 10th 2011. I've lost more than 100lbs ( 50 kg), but gained 10 lbs back.

I'm 61 and I thik that my banding is a success. I'd like to lose those 10 lbs, but hardly anyone can remain at the lowest point of their weght loss.

So, I congratulate myself on what I've done and go on..also because self-complaining drives me to the fridge.

You were very good at losing weight and will be able to lose what you've gained back.

Have you ever thought of going swimming? Or is it painful?

Another thing WE'RE YOUNG

Hi Ilene:

Are we twins separated at birth?? I too am from NY and Florida. I was banded in January and have lost 92 lbs. I also have been dealing with leg issues. I had bi-lateral hip replacement seven weeks ago and am still on the mend. I exercised in the pool because the pain was too great to exercise anywhere else. That's a good suggestion for you to try swimming. My surgeon just cleared me to go back in the Water and I'm looking forward to doing that again. Oh...and I'm 55 so if we are twins, I feel sorry for our mom....LOL!
