Had my surgery yesterday. I'm not in that much pain. I am following my diet. I'm really scared about having loose skin. Does anyone know the best exercises to reduce this.

Hi ePencil -- love your name! Congratulations on your surgery and best wishes for a nice relaxed weekend. I think the walking helps everything. Even five minutes plus five minutes plus five more will get you there. Loose skin is a problem for many and there are so many factors, like amount of weight lost, genetics, etc. Just like some get stretch marks more easily, etc.

Congrats on your surgery! Unfortunately the loose skin is related to so many things, genetics being the biggie. All you can really do is try to exercise and hope for the best. I know, not what you wanted to hear.

I had my surgery on November 19, 2013. Surgeon had problems with the size of band to use. Small in and out Large in, but expired and out, Large in for good. Extremely sore, but with time it will pass. I am concerned about a tightness in my upper back and chest. When I straighten up I get a painful, uncomfortable feeling like the esophagus is too short. Throbs a bit for 5 seconds or so. Hope this passes soon.

Thank you all for the advice. My dad is here taking care of me threw my recovery. Today isn't as good as yesterday I feel kinda....what's the word sluggish. And the hiccups might kill me I'm sure.

I was banded on the 21st. Day one was a breeze. Day two kicked my a*s. I slept a lot and the Infernal A*s Hose is a plague. I read about people being constipated after this surgery, I got constipated after previous surgeries. This time... Yikes! I bought Miralax but I sure don't need it. :P

Today I feel better. I got to transition from clear to full liquids. coffee with Creamer. A Protein Shake. I am looking forward to some cream Soup and sugar free pudding, later.

As far as pain goes, I don't have much. I took one dose of liquid Motrin on day one to knock down my shoulder pain. My heating pad works even better. My incisions and port site and surgical site overall is just discomfort. I haven't even cracked open my liquid Lortab. Don't need it. I just need to remember Mr. Porty and respect the spot. If I don't I get reminded. LOL

I have found that massage works pretty good to tighten up loose skin, especially around the mid section. After showering, I knead and roll my gut like a ball of dough to stimulate circulation and move the fat cells around. I noticed that doing pushups started to tighten the loss skin on the back of my arms and figured getting more circulation around my gut would help do the same.

I went for a body treatment and the lady recommended coconut oil as a firming lotion. I use that as my cream for now. It's a hell of a lot cheaper than firming lotion. I bought mine in trader joes and a little goes a long way. Just using a month not sure if it works but in trying it along with working out. But I'm saving for my reconstructive surgery as well . :) good luck on ur journey

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
