I've Been So Bad

Recommended Posts

I've been so bad. I had surgery February 26, 2013 and I've lost 95 pounds. However, I've eaten so bad the entire time since I had surgery. I can't eat much, obviously, but I eat awful! pizza, cupcakes, etc. I don't drink water; I drink diet soda. My weight loss is starting to slow down so I think that I need to start eating better and the weight will come off faster.

The first thing I'm going to do is start drinking Water. I'm not saying that I'm going to give up pop all together BUT I will try to get my 60 oz of water in per day. What else can I do? I work a lot. I'm a nurse and I have a full time job and 3 PRN (part time) jobs. So I need things that are easy to take with me. I don't even know how much Protein I'm getting in a day.

I'm a nurse too. I live on individual cups of cottage cheese, cheese sticks, Peanut Butter and celery/carrots, cold grilled chicken.

It's really not hard, but it does require planning. And I get in SO much more Water if I drink out of a water bottle. I kept it on my med cart at all times.

And I'll be honest - I was WICKEDLY addicted to pop and I had to give it up cold turkey. It's even almost 2 months and I can honestly say that I don't miss it anymore.

I'm with Crystal, I was on a 6-8 a day diet Coke habit and cut cold turkey. Yes, the first week sucked so much but it was honestly the best decision I ever made! And I wouldn't drink much Water if I didn't have my 20 oz. bottle glued to my hip. Highly recommend getting something you can take with you everywhere.

As far as Snacks go, do you have access to a fridge? If yes, my go-to Snacks are light string cheese, hard boiled egg whites, shredded chicken (just thrown a bunch of chicken breast in crock pot on Sunday and shred it up for the week), Protein shakes, lean ground beef, Greek yogurt, etc. Others eat jerkey, Protein Bars, nuts/seeds, etc.

Hope some of that helps? You can do this, good luck!

Best of luck Dobeigh...

I agree that planning is your salvation, and as a part of planning, always have 'good' Protein based food options around for you to eat.

But a 'grab and go' lifestyle gives (IMHO) way too much power to your fat brain... and your fat brain will try to convince you tat "a little bit of this and a little bit or that" is OK. In the long term, it aint.

Please look at some recent "food addiction" threads...

and like I said, keep letting us know how you are doing.

I'm just 9 days post but already know when I go back to work on my 12 hour shift I'm packing tons of healthy options. If I don't want one thing I can eat the other. My biggest problem is keeping my coworkers out of my lunch bag!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
