Weird? Normal? Just Me?

Recommended Posts

So, today I went in for a fill (my fourth). The nurse always has a little bit of trouble because my port is crooked/twisted so that the center is a little hard to find. Today, she could Not get it. I have to travel to the main office tomorrow so the doctor can do my fill. Has this happened to anyone else? Maybe I am just weird.

On a side note, she apologized for the bruise I will have from today. I told her it was ok because I am not into a bikini yet and when I am, my port will not be as necessary to find. I think a little bruise to get to green may be ok :-) (We giggled over that!) Truthfully, I doubt I would ever wear a bikini because I know I will have extra skin, but I love being on here because you guys give me hope that I will be able to be healthy and thin enough to be able to!

There are a few possibilities but I am sure your surgeon will figure it out. I hope your port has not flipped. It is not a big deal you would just have to get it fixed surgically but maybe it is just crooked. I wouldn't worry about it until you see your surgeon.

Hi M, maybe they will use fluoroscopy to see exactly what the angle is for ease of future fills......

I'm not exactly ready for a bikini either -- actually I don't think I ever wore one as an adult! But I look forward next summer to a couple of pretty sundresses. That's something to hold on to as a goal through these cold winter months while I'm working my a** off, literally. Not to mention working the belly off. The Winnie-the-Pooh look just does not work on me!

My doctor said my port is a little 'weird' too....he has me push out my stomach and laugh out loud and that helps him find it everytime. Good luck!

Well I got the fill. She had to try 2 times. It made it easier for her for me to do a crunch. I did find out I definitely cannot stand when they do it. I felt like I could pass out!! That is when she had me lay back down.

Thanks for your comments. I was a little nervous. Oh and I can't wait to wear the cute sundresses :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
