You May Be More Successful Than You Think....

Recommended Posts

Laura-ven, I have an even 100lbs to lose also... SW 240 CW 202 GW 140 So I guess that makes 38% loss? I'm 6 weeks out. Now I'd like to know the average % of loss in certain stages (after how long). :-)

So while statistics vary on this, I think most surgeons consider losing 50% of your excess weight between 6 months-1 year after surgery to be a sign of success.

Yes you read that right. So let's give ourselves a pat I the back all of us over-achieves!

By the way, VERY smart way of approaching this weight loss thing!!!

Thank you! I've been wanting to post on this for a while. Took me a bit to figure out how to lay it out without coming across as quite the nerd that I am :P

I'm one of those people who say they have "only lost" 33lbs. I know it's silly to complain. But I know there is nothing else I can do differently and I have been at the same weight for almost a month. (I'm concerned that I have lost all that I am going to lose)

Sleeved on October 4th

Start Weight: 217lbs

Day of Surgery: 203lbs

Current Weight: 184lbs

Well Laura you've also set your goal a lot lower than some others who reached goal but had a higher goal weight so that's part of it too, right? But even if you hadn't, you should still say good girl. The difference between 84% and 100% is meaningful personally for you, but from a health perspective and a "hot mama" perspective I'm guessing its negligible. So congrats!!

Please help me! Starting weight was 253.4 surgery weight (4weeks later) 237.7, current weight 182.4 goal weight 150. Then maybe 130 ;)

I am so jealous of how quickly you are losing. How have you already lost 55 pounds?? I was sleeved 9/16, and I've only lost 21! Would you mind sending me a PM with your average daily food intake and exercise? I'd REALLY appreciate it!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
