You have to rest and let your body heal after this major surgery. If you are having any pain, take your pain meds--pain slows down recovery.

Many spend most of the first week sleeping. You will likely be tired and have low energy for weeks, perhaps longer depending on your age and condition. Go to bed earlier at night and try to fit in a day time nap. Take good care of yourself.

Please excuse the line. Oh god, I'm so scared. I will be starting mine in 2 weeks. I wish you all the best. I am so afraid I am going to fail.

Thank you!! I am determined not to fail but I have some pretty bad cravings!! I am hoping that once my body and mind adjust to only liquids it will get better. Best of luck to you too!!

You can do it. When you're finishing your surgery, I'll be starting my pre op. Keep us posted on how your making out with the pre op. Really interested in knowing how you're feeling through the whole thing. Are you starving? I know you can do this and it inspires me that you can do so, so can I. Yeah!!!!

I'm on day 4 of my liquid diet. Good lord I swear i saw my son eating some chips and I wanted to lick his fingers!!"lol. I hate this diet, seems mine is also strict. I have no sensible dinner, cream based Soups etc. I know it will get better soon. But I tell you it is hard to psyche yourself out. Especially when you know you have nothing wrong w your stomach and can eat it if you wanted to without the dumping and sickness afterwards. I have mild headaches but I was told its the sugar as lack of caffeine in your body. You can do it! Stay strong! Are you able to have cream based soups, cream of wheat? Yogurt?

I can have creamed Soups and that is pretty much all I have lived off of other than my Protein Shakes, yogurts and sf Jello. I'm on day three and it's a little better I'm not starving I guess bc I drink a lot of Water but it sucks seeing others eat whatever they want!! Lol I cornered a friend and begged for a chip yesterday but thankfully she refused!!

You're too funny. Thankfully, I am in an insolated situation. Husband works a lot, live in country, no family around me, etc... so won't have temptation near me. I don't have to cook for 2 weeks (check). Going to Cancun, Mexico for surgery and I can have a small meal the night before (check). Keep up the great work!!!

Day 4 and it's getting easier. Last night was the ultimate test bc I went with my husband to a pool hall (we play in a pool league) that serves food that is a fat girls dream!! Not only is the cooking area in the middle of the place and you can smell it from anywhere in the building but we ended up sitting right next to the place that the waiters come out of with the food!!! It took everything I had not to snatch the chicken wings out of that girls hands!! I told my friend I was about to trip the next person and I'm not to proud right now to eat that shit off the floor!! (<< I would never do that!!) So as I fought and fought the urge the waitress starts popping popcorn, not the kind in a bag but the kind they make @ the movies, and guess where I'm sitting yup right next to that oh so smell good popcorn!!! And to top it off she goes over the intercom and announces that they are GIVING IT AWAY FOR FREE!!!! Oh holy hell!!! But I resisted!!! It was sooo hard to do, especially since I have not DRANK my dinner yet, but I did it!!!

Anyway just thought u would share my experience hope all is well with you guys!!

Well, a positive from the pool hall. I am still roflmao. But, I have not walked a mile in your shoes yet. I know it's got to be hard as hell. I can only imagine. You are hilarious though. Keep up the great writing and pre op diet. Keep it coming,

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
