11 weeks down 54 pounds

Recommended Posts

Well, I am just over 11 weeks post op and down 54 pounds! August 19th was surgery day. I am down 5 pant sizes and 2 short sizes! I still have more to go in the gut but have lost a lot in my face, shoulders, arms, legs and waist. I feel great! I truly hope everyone else feels as great as I do! Here are before from Feb 2013 and today Nov 2013.

Thanks everyone. My wife was sleeved on Sept 30th so we do a lot of our activities together. We walk daily. I bought us each a FitBit Flex to help track our steps and mileage. This has been a great incentive to get out and move. We walk a lot...minimum of 3 miles a day but closer to 5 during the week. I also ride my recumbent bike before work a few days a week, about 2 to 3 miles each time. I recently purchased a mountain bike to get outside and ride more. I also participate in the monthly challenge here on the forum under the fitness link. It is all for fun but a good way to push yourself to do more exercise. You will be surprised how much you can do. I recommend trying it out. No pressure to compete with others, just have fun and get active. Here is a link, come join us. http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/285564-november-fitness-challenge/

As for what I eat, I have a pretty standard routine. Breakfast is usually 2 scrambled eggs and maybe a piece of turkey sausage. Then about 2 hours later I have a Protein drink or Protein Bar, minimum 20 grams of Protein. For lunch I usually have a 2.6oz single serve pouch of tuna, they have flavored pouches, I like the zesty lemon flavor. I also have a Sargento fat free mozzarella string cheese with my tuna. I then walk a few laps around the warehouse at work after eating. About 2 hours after lunch, I have another Protein Bar or shake, once again minimum 20 grams of protein. For dinner, it is usually baked or broiled fish. Tilapia or salmon. We have a toaster oven that makes it extremely easy to cook the fish. You can buy the fish at the store in the frozen section and they usually come individually packaged so you can take out and thaw 1 piece or 4, your choice. Usually a veggie with the fish, but mostly fish. I make it a habit not to eat after 7pm also. I drink a minimum of 4 16oz bottles of Water a day, no tea or soft drinks or coffee. I take in an average of about 100 grams of protein a day. I use MyFitnessPal to track what I eat. The shakes we drink are the GNC Total Lean ready to drink shakes, 25 grams of protein, 2 grams of sugar and about 170 calories. The Protein Bars we like are the Pure Protein brand, usually found at Walmart or Target. 20 grams of protein and 2 grams of sugar.

As for the Mardi Gras beads, well being over 6'2" helps in grabbing beads. We always get a ton every year. If you have never been to a Mardi Gras parade, you should go at least once. You will have a ball!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
