Olive/darker skinned men/women and scarring from surgery

Recommended Posts

Wondering about olive/darker skinned women who've had cosmetic surgery to better understand scarring.

I'm eastern Indian and have an olive complexion. I wear like a medium beige in foundations for example. My husband who is white and I were sleeved the same day 3 months ago. His scars have almost disappeared, but mine are sort of burgundy/brown and clearly visible.

Although I am months from having cosmetic surgery (years?) every time I bring it up, my husband worries about the scarring given the extra melanin I carry. I'm wondering if there are East Indian, Latina, Greek, etc men and women who've had cosmetic surgery and can help me understand what to expect?

Even if it's just the scars from your VSG, and you're further out, that would be super helpful to know what to expect.

Thanks!

To aid with the scarring maybe try using mederma to lessen the look? I have a very fair complexion and that's what I've been using.

I can't get the mederma to stay on. I tried the other gel thing too that everyone uses and it just peels right off.

Ok I've been meaning to post pictures of my scars and my not perfect belly... And this seems to be as good as a spot as any. Most scars I see here look great.. Mine are extreme so don't let it scare you.

Yup mine are exactly that color! If yours haven't lightened in 10 months I doubt mine will either. So mederma did nothing for you?

Thanks for sharing that Laura. Also I'd kill to have a belly and legs as tiny as yours!

I saw you in your dress today girl! You are right there too :) And yeah, not pretty but I'm 47 and not entering any beauty contests..

I knew there would be carnage with loose skin the scars were a surprise. But I wouldn't change them for the world :)

Oh mederma! Not really but honestly I didn't put it on everyday.

I also have the olive toned skin. It took about two years for the scares from gall bladder surgery to get light and not very noticeable.

See your dermatologist. Cocoa butter and bleaching creams might work.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
