Does anyone do B12 injections? I had my first one at the doctor's office and today I'm supposed to do my first injection on my own. I'm definitely NOT a nurse and a little nervous about it. Any tips???

I get all of mine at the office, no appt, just walk in. However, I do have to give my mom nightly injections (she can do it herself too) and she says the needle is so small she doesn't even feel it. Hers goes in the leg or stomach.

Any way to get the med so I can give it to myself? Don't want the hassle of going to a Dr's office every week. Who has time for that?

I got tired of getting ripped off... Dr charged $25 an injection and I asked for a prescription and she refused. I "fired" her, started to see dr next door to her and got my prescription for injections and syringes. Doing it myself costs $1.50 an injection!!!

I requested 3 month prescriptions to reduce monthly visits to pharmacy. I read several articles about giving yourself B12 injections and even watched several youtube videos of people giving themselves b12 injections. Every so often I will get a huge itchy welt at my injection site and have learned if I hold a nice cube on the area before I give myself the shot, I don't have the itchy welt.

They are a piece of cake once you get the first one under your belt! :)

I have a prescription for them and do the shots myself or my hubby gives them. Easy.

I just started the B12 injection. I went to my PCP to be shown how to correctly administer the injection. I also give myself a weekly injection of testosterone because of my out of whack thyroid, so I don't mind doing a monthly injection of B12; it's better than taking a pill every day.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
