First Appt. Nov 6th

Recommended Posts

My first appt. to Bariatric Center is approaching and I'm so excited to finally get this ball rolling. I wish I could find my own therapist and nutritionist.

My journey started one year ago this month. I have lost 90 pounds. You will never regret this decision.

Congrats! I can only imagine the joy I'm facing.

What insurance do you have? I called my normal hospital and they had a nutritionist that worked with bariatric patients. It wasn't through Emory, but Piedmont.

Also, Emory gave me the name of 3 psychologists, so that helped. You should be able to make an appointment with them whenever you get out of your meeting at Emory tomorrow.

I think since no required diet, they said they generally get people into surgery within 2 months or so, but I'm not sure since I have a required diet, but I'm sure they can help, everyone there was nice.

That is awesome! I've been researching for a few months. It took awhile to get that first appointment, but I look forward to it. I think I get to meet the surgeon on this next visit, so that is exciting, but it isn't until Nov 26, pretty much a month after my first one.

Maybe we will see each other in support group or at an appointment at some point in the future since the appointments start out in a group. :) Good luck!

I felt the same exact way when I had my first appointment with my nutritionist and surgeon. The count down began from there for me too. I have about 4 more months of follow ups and hopefully I can have my surgery in march (crossing my fingers) I am very happy for you too. Summer 2014 better get ready for us = )

I am also going to have my surgery at Emory John Creek April/May 2014 if everything goes smoothly with the whole insurance process...Glad to hear from someone in my area, lets keep in touch.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
