How much are you eating?

Recommended Posts

I will be sleeved next week. I was wondering what eating is like 6, 9, 12, or more months after the surgery. How much are you eating for a meal? How many bites? Do you feel like you are deprived because you are not able to eat more? I'm worried that I will have this new world of feeling constantly deprived.

Just curious.

I was sleeved June 17. I eat about 1 cup of food at a meal. I very seldom feel deprived. I can eat just about everything only small amounts. This is the best decision I have made for my health and don't regret anything about it. I have lost 68lbs so far. Almost half way to my goal. Good luck.

I'm 3 1/2 mths post op and I never measure or weight anything. I go by what my tummy tells me. I take a bite. Put the fork down, Chew, chew, chew. Take another bite and go on...till I get that little nagging "I think u've had enuf" from my tummy.

Today I actually counted the bites on my soft chicken taco. 4. 4 bites. About 1/2 of a small taco. Got 2 free tacos at Del Taco for signing up online with them. Thats 3 more meals for me.

Just to give u an idea...

I am 3 months out and just like marfar above, I do not measure or weigh anything at this point. I am still barely able to get 1.5-2 oz of Protein in. I can sometimes eat 1 whole meatball or 4 or 5 bites of chicken. That is about all and most times I don't have room for any veggies. Sometimes it bothers me that I can't eat more but most of the time I am just amazed that I can feel completely satisfied after that small amount. I plan to take advantage of my restriction for as long as I can!

I'm 5 months out on Sunday and down 84 lbs! I don't measure either. I can feel when it's time to stop. Rarely I go passed that point and oh my! It's not fun! You will get the feel of everything as you go along. Last Sunday after church I had a treat meal at Taco Bell. 1 taco and one piece of the chicken quesadilla. It was the perfect amount and oh so yummy!!

I find that too. I don't measure but I know by the feeling when I have had enough to eat. You only have to eat too much once and then you can judge when to stop before you get to that point. I've been there twice and don't want to do it again.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
