Flaky scalp, splitting nails -what am i missing

Recommended Posts

Am 18 months out, religiously take a Multivitamin, Biotin and vit B12 every day but often forget the calcium citrate as it cannot be taken with the others.

I am suffering with a really dry scalp ( feels bumpy in places) and dry splitting nails that are splitting vertically. I know I must be missing something but what. Any ideas people.

Sounds like a thyroid problem.

Sounds like your diet may be too low in fat

Omega 3 was my first thought too.

I second this. How many grams of fat do you average per day?

What do I take for Omega 3, is that a supplement in itself?

It's fish oil - effectively. So, cod liver and other fish oil tablets/liquid. If you're hard core, you can take the liquid straight (however, i wouldn't do this unless it has a strong flavour in it, like orange, to mask the gross taste). Texture is bad, too, because it's oil you're having to swallow.

If you can swallow tablets well, I'd do it that way.

It's great stuff. Awful to taste, but very very good for you. Alternatively, eat waaaay more good quality fish.

What are you missing? Probably 80% of your stomach and 81 plus lbs! yuk, yuk, couldnt help myself.

I take Mega red fish oil for the Omega 3's. My face and hair were always oily so I'm enjoying being more normal and not very oily now. I swear my face has a whole new feel now, not just less oily but like new skin!

While you are waiting for the Omega 3 to kick in try this in your hair..

If you have straight hair----1 c Water, 1 Tablespoon baking soda...That's your Shampoo mix them together in a spray bottle...

Conditioner----- 1/2 c apple cider vinegar, 1 c Water.

If your hair is curly, then your conditioner should be 1 c of each.

You should notice a difference in 1 weeks if you use every day. The apple cider vinegar will take the itch away almost right away.....K

Sounds strange but works...imagine how much you will save in hair products...lol

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
