Struggling with enough water

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I'm 9 months post op and I am struggling to drink enough Water throughout the day. 2Lt is a lot for someone who only has 20% of her stomach.

I am not sure how much Water my stomach can hold at any one time plus I have to be conscious that I don't have water before a meal otherwise my stomach is too full to want to eat.

Any suggestions on how you get enough water throughout the day and still manage to eat all your meals? I need to work on a routine.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Lee.

Sip, sip, sip! That is the best advice I can give. I have a Tervis Tumbler with a lid, and take it with me everywhere, I sip it all day long, you would be surprised how much you can consume by sipping. Mine is the big one so it holds about 20 oz. Three of those per day and I've go it. I've gown so attached to it that when I travel and don't have it, I don't get as much Water and I really just miss it. I think it has become my security blanket. LOL! And yes, I use a straw, I get way less air with a straw as just drinking.

When you look at trying to get in your two liters it can look overwhelming but a sip at a time adds up quickly.

Good luck to you, are you nearing your goal weight at 9 months?

Thanks for that. I might try it. I work during the week and I am up and down constantly from my desk so would I take it with me when I got to meetings?

I'm about 10lb from my goal weight but I think I could reevaluate my goal and go another 10lb further. It has been a wonderful journey and a fantastic year. Best decision I've ever made. I have my life back and I'm actually living it. I just need to ensure I'm getting everything my body needs.

Thanks for your help.

Wow! That is wonderful! Congratulations on your success! I am still 27 pounds from my goal as I have been in a pretty stubborn stall for the last 2 months but I have lost a few inches during this time so I know that things are still moving in the right direction.

Yes, I would take it everywhere, even meetings, I'm sure people bring bottled Water in to meetings. I just like my Tervis Tumbler because it helps me see how much I am taking in. I am much more aware of not forgetting my tumbler as opposed to a bottle of Water. I guess I really am that attached to it, for me it's kind of like a reminder that I am working everyday to make the most of this awesome opportunity that I've been given!

Congrats again on your success, hope to be there myself in a few months!

Congratulations to you also. We are all working towards a better self and it's exciting.

I will look into the tumbler. I live in Australia so I need to find a store that stocks it or purchase online.

Thanks again for your help.

I have been using a camelback, it seems to be better for me when drinking. It doesn't allow air to get in and I also have problems with getting Water down. A friend of mine who was also sleeved told me to put a squirt of lemon in my water, or a slight bit of flavoring. I have tried it, it is a little better. I was a big water drinker before surgery. I have got to get back to the fluids!

I saw my nut last week, she suggested if I liked Koop aide when I was a kid to try the new liquid kool aide in my Water, squirt just enough for flavor. I bought cherry and orange, first time I tried the cherry, and had too much in my camel back. Next time tried just a squirt of orange and it was wonderful, it helps me w the water intake!

I make a 2 quart pitcher each day of cucumber. I peel and slice a cucumber and heat a 2 cups of Water in the microwave for 2 minutes then add it to the pitcher and let it set for about 10 minutes. Add water and ice and it's such a smooth, fresh taste. It helps me get my water in easily. I love the taste!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
