Best surgeon in Mexico for a reasonable price? Ignore my previous post, i hit post too early

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery in the states but now my boyfriend wants it. I'm clueless when it comes to Mexico surgeons. I has heard good things about Dr Aceves, but learned last night he charges 8700$!! We could do it in the states for 3k more than that. So, please help guide me. I am clueless and want a good surgeon for my boyfriend in a nice hospital and nice hotel and everything included, within a reasonable price....6k max. Is that too much to ask for? Should I go a different route? Please help.

I had Dr. Fernando Garcia - and went through Ready4Achange http://bariatricweightloss-surgery.com/

My cost was $4700 and that covered everthing but airfare... and I had a great experance

My insurance didn't cover the operation... However I do have a Healthcare Flexible Spending Account and I was able to get reimburest $2500 from the money that was in it,,, so for me.. out of pocket it cost me $2200 plus airafre

any questions about Dr. Fernando Garcia and my experances feel free to ask

Good Luck

I can't give a personal recommendation since I ended up being approved by my insurance, but when I was considering Mexican surgeons I did a lot of research. I had decided on Dr. Garcia. You may want to look for members who had him (and other surgeons you are interested in) as their surgeon and look at their posts and blog entries. Good luck!

Laura- Dr Armanza's office actually just called me telling me what they offer. Is that not a good route? I didn't get a good vibe when you put the hospital in parenthesis. Please explain. :)

Well first off sorry to the people that used this place and liked it.. THIS IS MY OPINION..

It is not a hospital it is a clinic in a strip mall between an office max and porn shop...

There have been horror stories and not long ago a news story about botched surgeries.

I personally would never be desperate enough to take such a risk.

Thank you for that. I will look into the other surgeons that others recommended. Do you happen to have any you favor?

They all seem to be ok.. I see you are looking at ilian he's not as well known as the Garcia's and Acevess but I still think he gets good reviews..

I just have a thing about going to an outpatient clinic in Mexico is all :)

Oh and I would PM Susan here.. She gets deals from time to time on these doctors and if I were to have a coordinator I'd prefer Susan because at least I can find her easily to bug, complain or ask..

I have my surgery scheduled with Dr. Ortiz with OCC- I have read nothing but excellent things about him and his facility- $6500 not including airfare, including 3 nights in the Marriott. I have been researching this extensively since February and decided on Dr Ortiz. Any time I had questions, they responded to me right away when I called or emAiled.

I had surgery with Dr Ariel Ortiz on October 7. I am so happy I went with him! I had no pain and little discomfort. No throwing up, no dry heaves, no feeling like it. He triple staples then folds the edges in and staples again.

The Obesity Control Center is a center of excellence, using the same standards as the US. He has done over 10,000 of these surgeries. It is all he does. He teaches in the US. One thing I really liked about his clinic was that weight loss surgery is all they do. That means no sick people come to the clinic. No bad germs, no infections. Dr Ortiz has very few complications.

I recommend him highly.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
