I've never tried the powders, just the premade shakes.

I think the New Directions brand chocolate is the best. They sell it at my surgeon's office. The other flavors arent as good, but I really like the chocolate.

the chocolate Protein powder from target is pretty good. the brand is market pantry. The vanilla tastes like crap though.

I was asking the same question myself today. I am so sick of the Protein powder I have been using, it was so hard to hide the taste of it. So this morning I stopped by one of our local nutrition stores and they actually will mix up samples to try. I found one I really like that is s'mores flavor and tastes good just mixed with Water.

The products are a little more expensive than what I bought at the grocery store health market, but it's a lot cheaper than buying something, hating it and then throwing it away like I had been doing.

Hopefully you can find a place that does samples because everyone's taste buds are different. Good luck!

I think the best tasting Protein powder is a brand called "Carb Solutions." Years ago it used to be sold at Walmart and places like that, but now the only place that I know of that sells it is Drugstore.com. It is a blend of Protein sources consisting of Soy Protein Isolate, Calcium Caseinate, Sodium Caseinate, whey Protein Isolate, and Dried Egg White.

I only drink ready-to-drink shakes now, but up until about two years ago I used the powders. I would take this and blend it with some whey powder, which was cheaper. It would give a good flavor to the mix.

You can see the vanilla at:

And the chocolate is at:

I personally like Body Fortress Cookies & cream, Body Fortress Choc.& PB and six Star Choc. I compared them to Unjury. They do have SLIGHTLY higher fat & carbs, but lower sugars and higher protein!!!! Plus they are much easier to find (grocery store, Walmart etc) and MUCH cheaper! I am still pre op so the true test will be next week, when I am post op. See how they taste to me then...

I LOVE the Muscletech from Sams Club. It comes in chocolate or Vanilla. It can be made with skim milk, Water, hot, or cold. I have added it to cream of wheat, pudding for extra Protein. Also I have added half a pack of crystal light to the vanilla to change it up too. Lots and lots of versatility. The cost is VERY reasonable too.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
