One Last Drink

Everyone has to do what is right for them, You are the only one responsible for YOU! Just because as my mom used to say, someone jumps off the cliff, does not mean you have to.

Rock that sleeve... we did it for our health! Ü

Beer thins your blood and does not help with surgery.

It always sends off warning bells in my head when I hear things like this. It means that alcohol is pretty important to you' date=' and you may have trouble with it when you can no longer "use" food. Please be aware!! You might blow off this post, and think, "alcohol is not a problem for me." If that is the case, it should not be a problem to give it up.[/quote']

Alcohol is important to us. We are men posting in the men's room.

I like to drink and I love beer. I am not ashamed to say that I like beer and not drinking it was a serious consideration when looking into this procedure. I would ask my self, why would I want to give up drinking beer and watching football with the boys. The only answer I could come up with is:

1) this doesn't affect my eyes

2) there is alway Vodka

I didn't drink during the two week pre-op diet. But I did have one last trip with friends to World of Beers. I love Belgium Trappist ales, so it was my last time to enjoy bottles of Chimay and Rochefort for a long time. I definitely don't plan on giving up drinking forever. That's just crazy talk. Even my doctor told me that eventually I'll be able to drink again, just that I'll be an cheap date since the alcohol will enter my system so much quicker. I'll also only be able to have maybe one drink and have to drink it very slowly. I'm also a fine wine connoisseur and have a decent amount at home. I am not giving up on those bottles since far too much money is invested. Most of the bottles won't reach their peak for a few years, so I've got time on my side.

Stick to your diet like a nun to her vows and you will love the result. I give myself a couple days a month to eat/drink what I want (within the limitations of my sleeve). Down 76lb in 11 weeks. #nuns

My last beer was a sip of beer at Fenway park the night before surgery.

Since then I'm am enjoying a whisky when I imbibe.

No carbonation....

Fewer ounces.

We all know it is the same calorie count either way. About 100 cals

3500 cals = one pound.

The big thing to rebember is alcohol is a dis- inhibitor.

We sometimes make poor choices, and decisions after drinking.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
