As hard as I've tried I've been unable to get down enough fluids, so back to the hospital for iv fluids. And I have terrible veins so it should be real fun. I just feel so sick and defeated. I'm 6 days post op. I've been crying and I think it'd just cause I didn't think it would be this hard. My mom really gave me no support which hurt. My hubby just seemed confused by my crying. I feel like no one gets it, so glad I have this board to post on. Just looking for someone to tell me it gets better soon and not worse.

I am so sorry for you. I hope the IV will help you so you can get your recovery headed in the right direction. Good luck to you. Let us know how you're doing.

I'm a newbie post op too.

::hugs::

We gotta stick together others just don't get it.

Hopefully you'll feel better after they fill you up-don't weigh for a bit so you can work out the extra Water weight.

I know I once cried off 11# in one week!

Hope you feel better.

:( Sorry to hear about such a rough time. It does get a whole lot better pretty quickly. But when we are in that stage it can never be soon enough. Make drinking fluids your only goal when you get back home from getting an IV.

You should be feeling better within a couple of days. And a week later you will feel even better. Just try to be patient.

It DOES get better. Hydration is just Very important! And now your emotions are also cattywumpus, which is normal as well! Keep checking in, friend!

It def gets better! I am two weeks post op today, and my first 5 days were miserable! I was crying to a lot, but now this week, just 1 week later, I am feeling soooo much better, and down 22 pounds! It really doesn't take long, but I know when you are in the throes of the painful part, it's hard to believe! Pretty soon it will be US with our before and after pics!

You'll feel so much better after getting hydrated at the hospital. I had to have it done three times between my EDG and post-surgery; it's a hard lesson to learn at the beginning, but we're here for you.

So sorry you're having a rough time, but it does get better. I had terrible diarrhea my first 6 days postop & I still have no idea how I managed to stay hydrated. It was awful & I felt so weak! My doc ended up adding kefir (liquid yogurt) into my diet & it made a world of difference for me. Hang in there...this too shall pass!

      I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

      Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
