Back to the hospital

As hard as I've tried I've been unable to get down enough fluids, so back to the hospital for iv fluids. And I have terrible veins so it should be real fun. I just feel so sick and defeated. I'm 6 days post op. I've been crying and I think it'd just cause I didn't think it would be this hard. My mom really gave me no support which hurt. My hubby just seemed confused by my crying. I feel like no one gets it, so glad I have this board to post on. Just looking for someone to tell me it gets better soon and not worse.

Melissa,

I'm so sorry you are having problems. It's been about 3 months since my surgery so I remember well how bad I felt for the first week or two after I got home. I even had to stay at Magee for an extra night and day becausee I couldn't get fluids in. You made the right call by going back to the hospital. Once you get fluids in, you will feel so much better. I really hope everything starts to get better for you quick. Please let me know if there is anything I can do.

Aw thanks Lorie! I'm feeling better this morning. Already got in 12 oz of liquid so on track for a good day that way. Have my 1 week follow up tomorrow with dr Eid so hopefully I will be moved to full liquids and start to recover properly. I know the future will be brighter, just hard to see that at this stage of the game!

I am still pre op, but I hope you feel better soon.

I feel your pain! My sleeve was inflamed after surgery, so drinking fluids was torture! By 2 weeks after surgery it got so much easier. It will get better soon! Hang in there.

Yeah they told me my sleeve was most likely tight and swollen making my drinking very difficult. Good to know it gets better soon!
