Recommended Posts

hey guys im new to this forum. Im getting my sleeve done in Tijuana on December 30th, just wondering if anyone else wil be there at the same time?

Hi Mbindra! We are surgery date buddies! There are 4 others on the 30th. We call ourselves the "caboose" for December Sleevers.... We can learn so much from all the people who are earlier on the month! I'm getting my VSG in Massachusetts.

Im scheduled to get banded Dec 5th..Im super excited..And very thankful to have this group as a support system because Im only telling 1 person about the surgery.

Hi thick2slim! Congrats on your date!

You are VERY welcome in this group for general support through the process, just wanted to make sure you knew the rest of us are getting the sleeve and not the band.

Not sure if there is a December group on the Band forum, as I don't visit that forum.

However, like I said, we are absolutely happy to have you here with us!!

Wow!! Congrats on your hard work!!

I went to my last PCP appt today (actually finished my 6-month supervised diet with PCP in Oct but due to delays with processing I had to keep going until surgery) and I was down another 14.5 lbs!! I've lost 33.5 lbs since starting this journey in March! Super excited for my Dec date to get here!

To all my sister/brother Dec. 2nd sleevers! OMG!!! Before I start I'd like to say "Thank you God" for this support group. Okay, so I just came from my post-op appointment and finally meet my surgeon. That's another OMG! He was so tall, handsome, great personality and what a hand shake! I'm so glad that my husband wasn't with me:) Everything is set and on track. I start my liquid diet on Monday. 3 Protein Shakes and liquids:( I'm not too much worried about Thanksgiving. My plan is to send my husband and son down the street to the neighbors for dinner. I'll take myself to the movies during dinner. It actually feels good to not have to worry about stuffing myself silly and then regretting it the next day. Then after my regrets I stuff away again. Not anymore. Too all of my Dec. 2nd's whose already started your liquid diet, Hang in there!

Here We Go!

That's a great plan! if I wasn't hosting, I'd love to bail this year for Thanksgiving! My doctor is pretty cute too! Very nice and I feel he has a very good resume!

My liquid diet starts the day after Thanksgiving!

Welcome to the group!

Hello! I am getting sleeved on Dec 3rd I just got confirmation yesterday. Was instructed to start my liquid diet that day. I was unable to get everything to start liquid on such short notice so I started it today. It has been a long day.

I am excited, and scared, and nervous, and oh gosh really just a big ball of emotions, a big ball of hungry emotions! Lol

Happy to have found fellow Dec sleevers!

Wow, I think I would freak out with no warning to start the preop diet!! It's taken me over a week to wrap my head around it and be okay with mine (I was initially told I didn't have to do one!)

Now that I've moved past the disappointment, I'm excited and looking forward to it too. I already have general anxiety and have been doing GREAT until this past week. It is really acting up! Heart is pounding a lot!

Can't wait until ALL of the Decembers are on the other side on the loser's bench!

Starting to get a little nervous. Still excited though. I start my pre-op diet next monday. 7 days of 2 Protein Shakes and a small dinner. No more than 800 calories. Then 7 days of all liquids. Glad to have this group to look for support and new ideas.

It was very.. Umm sudden. I feel bad because I missed the first day of the liquid diet. I have had to push past feeling guilty and that I have already failed not even 24 hours in.

Oh, I disagree! No failure at all! You had no notice! I think you did great to start without warning on day 2!

I am also getting sleeved on the 3rd. Sorry for the short notice you received but I wouldn't worry about missing a day. All doctors require different liquid diet pre op phases. Some one week, some two, or more. My doctor actually only requires one day of liquids the day before surgery. Thank God, cuz I don't think I could do it. But don't even give it another thought missing one day., you'll be fine.

Hello all, I have an update. just finished all pre op requirements and met with the surgeon yesterday. We are all set to move forward. He will submit to insurance today (BCBS of IL). After approval Pre Op testing, upper. GI and EKG, and then surgery. He is confident it will happen in December but needs insurance approval to schedule. I will be having the surgery at UMass Worcester with Dr Czerniach.

Hi everyone,

I have a suggestion. Since December is fast approaching and this thread has over a thousand responses, it's getting hard to keep up with everyone and their sleeve dates. Would anyone be interested when December hits to maybe start new threads so that the ones who are sleeved within a few days can keep track of each other's journeys since we will be going through exactly the same things at the same times.

Any suggestions on how to categorize? Maybe something like

Dec 1-5

Dec 6-10

Or even a week at a time. What do you guys all think? I'm sure we are all very happy to have so many people being sleeved in December like ourselves but I'm also sure we will probably be paying closer attention to those who are sleeved the same day or within a day or two of ourselves more.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
