Body image - I did something today that shocked me...

Recommended Posts

I tried on and bought a bikini. Not to be ever seen in public...hahaha... but for my plastics before and afters. I was thinking I would die when I saw the photos, but you know what, I am proud of my body even with the extra skin! I didn't really think that way until today. I even did a couple of muscle woman poses to show off what I know is hiding under that skin.post-12388-13838396088338_thumb.jpg post-12388-13838396088714_thumb.jpg post-12388-1383839608912_thumb.jpg

You look great, whether you go forward with the PS or not. I mean come on, how much horseback riding do you do in a bikini, anyway? Not in our neck of the woods! :)

Okay I am going to be very honest. After all your posts about all your loose skin and how much you had, and how you needed surgery, ext? I expected something quite different than what I see. To me, you look freaking amazing. You see loose skin, I see a long, lean, slender body. Totally understand why you feel the way you do because we are our own worst critics, but just believe me, you look great!

TOTALLY AGREE WITH GG^^^^!!!!

I think you look amazing. If I looked that good I probably wouldn't bother with plastics...

I know this is a personal journey for everyone, but I'm just being honest. I think you will look even more fabulous after you get all your work done, but please be proud of all you have accomplished. I never did and never will have a bikini body, so I love to see it when people rock their bikinis after a major weight loss.

Thank you for the compliments, but I have long suspected that Target dressing rooms have magical mirros - how else can you explain those terrible pants I bought last summer...lol.

In all seriousness, plastics is SERIOUS business and I wouldn't do it if i didn't need it. What those pics dont really show is that when I sit down, my tummy lays on top of my thighs. My thighs and arms are wrinkled like an elephant legs. I can go on.

Most of my "close up and horribly real" photos are not edited for modesty but, I have a couple that will give a more accurate representation of the situation. What my photos DO SHOW is that working out pays off and I believe I have a good chance of having good results from plastics because the frame underneath is in decent shape.

This is the view I see when I put my arm down, slightly in front of me. I am sharing the ugly because I want to paint the real picture.

The reason I shared my bikini pix in the first place is I was amazed that I looked better then I thought. I had NO idea that my back was that muscular. I don't lift weights, i do julian michaels DVDs, did crossfit for awhile etc and other exercises. It was a refreshing and empowering look at myself. I have spent alot of my life loathing my looks and I don't feel that way anymore.

Extra skin... well... I could live a happy life with loose elephant skin arms, but, I would rather not have it. :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
