I too, am just under two weeks! Congrats on your weight loss! Are you getting enough Protein and Water?

I know everyone says that, but it's true. I felt really crappy my first week, and then I was able to get

protein and water in, and felt a million x better! Good luck!

Get some G2 and mix it 1/2 and 1/2 with water...It will help with hydration.....Broth has Protein in it but if it is made from scratch it has more.....There are protein powders that you can directly mix with water....Syntrax nector..I use it plain in Water with ice..It is not bad at all......

During my first 2 weeks I was feeling lightheaded and my doc told me to start taking B12, and that really helped me.

I have been using Now Sports - whey Protein Isolate powder Natural. The unflavored one. I add it to pretty much everything right now. It really has no flavor, and it boosts the protein content. I have only been having 1/2 of a cup of food at a time, so i have been adding 1/2 scoop to stuff. Making a thinned out pea Soup right now (no ham) and will be adding it to that as well...

Water - Protein - B12, and if you are still on BP Rx that could do it (but don't stop without talking to the MD!)

I was light headed and had vertigo at week 3, I upped my Protein intake to 80 grams, focused on getting my Water in and upped my calorie count to 800+. It was the low calories that seemed to be causing a lot of my issues. My body just couldn't function (even laying around recuperating) on only 500 calories a day. I use Premier Protein shakes from costco, and I fortify Greek Yogurt with unflavored whey protein so that each serving is 30 grams of protein. It took me a couple of hours to eat a single seving of yogurt, but I was getting the protein in.... Good luck to you!

I was light headed the first week and half but you really have to just relax. No matter what people on the forums say, in reality you are starving your body in first few weeks. You have so many extra pounds and all you and giving your cells to survive on is liquids. Obviously you will be tired - but it will pass. Once I reached soft/ normal foods....I gained most of my energy back. Just rest and relax for now.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
