I have pooped, but not a good one!

Recommended Posts

One week post op and still haven't had a good bm since a few days before surgery. Today I had my 3 servings of benefiber and took 3 stool softeners before bed. Hoping tomorrow morning is it!

I have pooped a few times, but not an actual long guy. These are more like poop balls!

Any other suggestions?

i had the worse time after surgery. never been constipated in my life. how could i be with all the food i was eating? i finally called my doctor and he told me to use Miralax. i used it in my Protein Drink. sometimes Fiber pills can do just the opposite of what you are wanting from them. just think of it, if you have diarrhea you would want some more fiber to harden up your stool. so i took the miralax and 2 dulcolux(SP) and in the morning i really did have a nice bm.

I take the fiber route. I have always had irregular bowels because I have thyroid disease. I couldn't take laxatives pre surgery because they are too harsh on my stomach. I don't go every day but when i do it's a productive one. I use colon cleanse from Walmart. It's not what the name implies, it's a fiber supplement that will help keep you regular.

Start snacking on greens: it's better than a pill and your body needs it anyway. I had that issue for a while, but I started eating broccoli, spinach and salads - a little bit every day will keep you regular and your BM's will be "nice".

Mel, you and I already talked about this in private... So you know, I'm in the same boat right beside you!! I'm sitting in the waiting room right now to have staples removed so I'll pose this to the doc & post his response. FYI - milk of mag gives me cramps like a mofo

Doc said just keep pushing the fluids and things will 'move' when they're ready to.... He said if I were to use anything, put it in the bottom rather than the top, there will be less cramping and/or discomfort this way. I feel like I have one of those poops coming that is better than sex... well, bad sex atleast lol

Enemas get it done. Then just up your Water. Post-op it's really hard to get things moving: anesthesia and pain med combo. I had a surgery wednesday and had one this morning.

Milk of Magnesia is the WORST. For me I end up with horrible cramping.

And I'd never ever had an issue before surgery. And never had an enema before in my life. But they are effective and more natural than meds.

I used miralax! Loved it! No cramping or anything. Worked overnight

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
