Do you eat celery since being banded? I don't like raw celery by itself but I love to chop it up and put it in things like Soups, chicken salad, tuna salad, cornbread dressing(which I only eat on holidays). I know the lapband book mentions it as being a potential problem food so I was wondering if I will need to avoid it? Or is it ok as long as it's finely chopped?

i ate celery and Peanut Butter once. i tolerated fine. like missy said you try it and see. i don't think any food is restricted except high calorie foods. but some ppl don't tolerate food the same. i can't for the life of me eat deli turkey weird i know but it's on my avoid at all cost. also left over meat. i don't care how moist or if it is smothered in sauce i can't tolerate cooked meat reheated.

Celery?....No.....as well as other fruits and vegetables....vegetables better if cooked and not hard, also skinless with some fruits...

Peanut Butter?...in my smoothies at times, along with other ingredients...

But you have to experiment based upon your bands feedback...many people here can do things others cannot not, and vice=versa....

Some people can eat raw vegetables....some cannot

Some people can drink carbonated drinks...some cannot

Some people need to crush their meds - pills....some do not have to

Some people hungry all the time, some are never hungry, and some in the middle....

And the list goes on and on and on....

The more you read these posts, the more you see just how different people tolerate and react to different things......not sure if there is a right or wrong, just what you and your band can and cannot do, along with your Doctor aware of every step...

Of course, if your considering calories and dieting...then that's another area altogether...I'm speaking of the band only...

I'm good with cooked celery, but always "de-vein" it if I want to eat it raw.

When I had my band, I could not eat it raw. But if I saute'd it then I did just fine.

I don't tolerate any fibrous fruit or vegetable: celery, leeks, pineapple (a big no-no for me), too-ripe peaches or plums (the stringiness makes these stick). ripe mango...

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
