Julie: You look simply marvelous! Way to go. I can't believe that you're looking forward to another surgery. That's reassuring to me, that means it wasn't too bad! You're doing great. When can you start exercising again?

SillyWilly, I went with the pink one. I have on the green one today though, if that makes you feel better. wink.gif

Kareyquilts, Yeah, I guess in hindsight the surgery wasn't so bad. If I was at goal, I'd be having my thighs done TODAY. The results are so worth the pain. And I want to wear pants! Also, you asked about exercise. I can start working back up to running when 6 weeks are behind me. So, 2 more weeks to go (today is exactly 4 weeks from my surgery). I'm looking forward to it because I'm not sleeping well and I think it's from not exercising -- at least in part.

Julie

At what weight did you begin running?

I do quited a bit of cardio and so want to run. I tried at 270ish and got past the first week of 30 seconds of running and walking 90 seconds, for twenty minutes. In the second week I moved to 60/60 for a total of twenty and my knee started killing me. My lungs and butt can handle it but not my frame.

I so want to run, but think it's just too much weight right now. With that in mind can you tell me where were on the scale you when you started?

Thanks,

Juli,

I remember exactly -- I told myself I wouldn't run until I was under 250, then only in small amounts. So when I hit 249, I started running light intervals, like 30-60 seconds, then walking 3-4 minutes. If anything ever hurt, I backed off, because I knew I was still way too heavy to really run. When I got to about 220 I could really run with almost no issues. I ran my first race (4 miles) at 215 or so. My second race is what took me to Onederland. I can't wait to get healed and see what running with no pannus is like. It's going to be incredbile, I just know it!!

Hi Julie,

I'm late reading posts this week but I HAD to post and congratulate you on your astounding weight loss success and tell you how wonderful you look. I'm glad the surgery went well. You'll have your choice of men so don't worry about the less than eventful date.

Thanks Elisabethsew!

Well, today was a big SV day for me. I met my original goal, which was to lose half my body weight. Today I weigh 179 and I've lost 179 lbs. So, I set my final goal, which, for lack of a better reason, I set at 136, which is the highest weight at which I'll have a NORMAL bmi.

My plan for getting there (if I can, and if I can't, that's SO FINE too -- whatever my body wants at this point, you know?) is to just live life, keep up my running program, and get to the high 140s. Then around Christmas, I'm going in for the second half of the PS. That'll be a thighplasty and a butt lift. Dad says he'll take 15 lbs off with that because I have so much extra skin on my thighs. I wish I could have it done before then, but with the change in jobs coming up, the first time I can get that much time off is going to be the holidays (where I can use the built in days off to get me from having 2 weeks off to almost 3 weeks off, which is what I need for that surgery).

So that's the update!

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
