Lap Band 12-11-13

Recommended Posts

Hi all , im rarely on here so I may not reply, but I was banded 2 yrs ago on dec 13, 2011 and it wasnt a problem to be banded just before christmas, I just stuck to my drs rules because I knew I would be happier with the weight loss than I would with all the food, ( hey, thats what got me overweight in the first place, so it was a no brainer ! Okay.....I did sneak 1 soft cookie !! Iwent from a size 18, 225 lbs ( with a goal of 140 lbs ) and by end of feb was down 19 lbs and my clothes were falling off of me !! I lost a total of 50 lbs by aug 1 andam now down to 159 and a size 10 ! Woohooo life s so good !!

I am getting super excited. My consult is tomorrow and my surgery is Thursday morning. I check in at the surgery center at the unholy hour of 5:45. If everything is on schedule my op should be about 6:30. I could be done and headed home by ten. :D

Hi Kelmet! My surgery is scheduled for next Tuesday. I will keep you posted how it goes. I too found the info and support from everyone on this forum to be so helpful and encouraging. I have been both nervous and excited about getting banded but the more I get feedback from everyone the more excited and motivated I get. I'm so ready for this. :)

I'm 8 days post op. The most important thing is make sure you follow your post op diet. It's not a fun diet but your doing it for a good reason. It helps your stomach, body and band acclimate to the new adjustment. Good luck and congratulations

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
