Yummy! Do I love turkey burgers? Understatement. I can eat them everyday with no problem Lol. You guys making me hungry here. Happy your hubby is losing too as you lose. Nice.... :)

Have you tried the turkey burgers at Carl's Jr.? I've never been a fast food junky, but on the rare occasion that I drive through, they have a really good one. I haven't had one since being banded, but I imagine I'd only be able to eat about 1/3 of it.

You're not really doing yourself any favors if you substitute ground turkey or ground chicken for ground beef' date=' UNLESS you use ground turkey/chicken breast!! I never use ground beef anymore, and I prefer ground chicken breast to ground turkey breast because it has a softer texture.

I add Water to the pan to keep it from sticking while I'm "browning" and then drain it just like you would ground beef.[/quote']

I don't eat ground beef...never did. I've never been a beef or pork eater. I'm not even into burgers (mcdonalds, five guys, etc) I ask because I normally eat turkey ground anyway. I just wanted to know I can continue eating it. My problem in weight gain mostly is junk food....soda, chips, candy. But I hear ya.

I don't think we have a Carl's jr here in South, Florida. Don't I wish! Choi down before being banded....hehehehehe

In the beginning I avoided oil' date=' too. But now, when I make a big pot of whatever, I use some oil to sauté the onions, mushrooms and dryer ground meats. Given the amount of oil I use, compared to the number of meals that come out of the pot, it really doesn't add up to much.[/quote']

Now, do you use a particular oil? Olive, vegetable, etc?

LOL! Months back' date=' when I was in the beginning of my post-op diet progression, I'd read posts on here about what people were eating. OMG - I would salivate![/quote']

Lol....I'm eating until surgery or at least my pre op diet start. Which is Feb.

I've found the leanest ground turkey (all white meat) isn't that great. But there is another one that is something like 7% fat' date=' and that one works really well. The ground beef I buy has the same ratio of fat, and though it would be too dry for hamburgers, it's great for various concoctions.[/quote']

I never thought about the fat content. I just like the taste of turkey ground so much.

I can't eat any ground meat. Period. Maybe that will change with my next fill, but starting with fill #3 ground meat was over for me.

I sometimes have issues with ground beef, but ground turkey goes down great!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
