Homie Dont Play That

Recommended Posts

I won't live my life on liquids for the sake of losing faster. THERE, I SAID IT! I get that out of the way because I know there could be people who might think I want to lose the unhealthy way. My fill today was aggressive.... So much so, that I couldn't tolerate water- By the time I realized I was indeed TOO TIGHT, and by the time I gained my "composure" enough to come out of the bathroom, I was in real bad shape. I went back in and had 1cc taken out. He unfilled me pretty quickly and I felt immediate relieve. It was kinda cool. After the unfill, I was able to take sips of Water (but was a little afraid) going home I decided to get some coffee because I read here how warm liquids help with irritation. Buuuut, it didn't go well. I've been feeling stuck ever since I had the first sip of coffee. HERE IS MY QUESTION: could it be that I'm irritated because of the situation before the unfill, or FOR SURE FOR SURE, am I too tight? I know you're not surgeons, but maybe there's someone who had to have an unfill after not tolerating Water, felt sh*tty afterwards, and eventually settled without getting an unfill? I don't mind an unfill (if necessary) I just don't want to have to go to the ER to get it done at this hour.

Ps... PBing & sliming

Thanks in advance for your help!! ;)

It could very well be a combination of both....you got irritated & you are still too tight! Bottom line is if no liquids can be tolerated you can dehydrate really quickly. I'd recommend calling your doctor asap. Hope you feel relief soon!!

Try putting a heating pad on your stomach, see if it helps relax things a bit, ie no sliming. And then have warm tea. If that doesn't work I'd say it's time to call the doctor. Most people are looser in the evening anyway. Try to take a deep breath and relax a bit. Either way you're stomach is going to be fine either the tea & heating pad or the doctor. I know when I get stressed my band instantly responds. Good in a way because it makes me take a step back and see what I can do.

Hopefully your doctor has an after hours number you can call if you need to. In the mean time... Your episode very likely caused some swelling around the band area so just take it very easy tonight. Warm tea with honey or chicken broth and tiny sips. Hope you feel better!

Didn't you have a whole stuck event last night with the rice and then the stress of a job interview as well as a fill today? I don't know much about the band as I don't even have one yet (!) but that was too much all at once. Take good care and let yourself heal up -- that was terrible last night and probably the fill today should have waited a bit until you were really recovered from that. Hope you can put your feet up and rest.

I was also going to say, call the doctor ASAP. Feel better.

when I get a fill, I'm really tight for a few weeks and I just persevere. But if you can't even get liquids down, you need a Dr.

You can go weeks with no food, but only a few days without liquid.

You gotta do, what you gotta do.

Good luck & feel better soon!

HEY GUYS!!! I'm posting from an ER bed. It's annoying explaining whats going on to a doctor that doesn't know squat about bariatrics, when you could hardly breath. Waiting on a surgeon. THANK YOU ALL!!

you're absolutely right..... That episode last night portably left me pretty irritated and today's fill SHOULD have waited.... Lesson learned.

Glad you're at the ER. Please make sure you have someone who KNOWS how to unfill you do it. Hopefully they call in someone in Bariatrics. There is a right way to do it and a wrong way- as well as a specialized needle.

Hope they make you comfy soon.

Yep! I won't let anyone who's not trained touch me. By any chance, do you know the kind of needle used? If not, I'll have them call NYU and find out... I've been through enough for two days to have something else go wrong. And they better not think of taking everything out.... Now THAT I would fight teeth & nails ;)

It's a huber needle (non-coring). It's not the standard give someone a shot needle.

Does your surgeon have an emergency line? If so I'd call the line and let them know you're at the hospital. And if your surgeon has rights at the hosptial.

At the very least the hospital should speak with the covering surgeon and get all the details from them.

I've had to go to the ER for seizures before- the ER called my neurologist to get instructions from him directly as they didn't have one there.

i called the 3 er in my area and all of them said that they wouldnt do a unfill. they would have to transfer me to my surgeon's hospital which is 2.5 hours away. thats why i hesitated at first. still not sure if i don't need a unfill. i see my doctor on the 31st. i will just eat fish and salad. both of those things go down without problem. so i know what you are talking about that most emergency rooms are not set up to do a unfill. one of the hospitals i called even do bariatric surgeries but said they couldnt unfill my band.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
