How much weight do you have to lose to change a size?

Recommended Posts

I lost 35lb in the beginning before I changed down one single size. Now I'd need to lose about 8 to 10lb and I'd be down another size. It depends how overweight you are (and how tall).

About every 15-20 lbs for me. I seemed to carry more weight on my stomach, hips, and thighs though. I've dropped 12 inches off my waist with 75 lbs lost. That makes a huge difference in clothes sizes on me.

About 20lbs for me to drop a dress size...like you lianna I seem to carry more weight on my stomach, hips, thighs though my waiste is actually quite trim..so the trouble I find is finding clothes that fit around my hips and thighs usually hang dreadfully around my waiste... hehehe

My next size is an 18 and I think it is going to take me 30 additional lbs. For some reason I feel like I will be a size 18 at 200 lbs.

Sizes vary of course and there is a difference in the size of an 18 in Women's (or plus) and an 18 in Misses sizes. So after losing 20 pounds you might find you go from an 18 plus size and still be in an 18 but in misses sizes. Look at the difference in the size charts and the measurments and you'll see what I mean.

I am short at five feet and it takes about 12 to 15 pounds right now for me to go down a size. As I get smaller, it will probably be 10 to 12 to go down a size.

The brand name etc can make a difference, too as some cut their clothes a little generous and some very narrow and tight.

Right now I am at 202 lbs and am just ordered an 18 womens pant.

When I first start to lose weight its about 20lbs before I am down a size then as things start moving its about every 10lbs to go down as a size. I have lost 40lbs and am down about 3 sizes. I'm 5'5, average height.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
