No fill for me !

Recommended Posts

I'm reporting in. My eating was out of control, gained back 12 lbs , so doc put me on fluids for 2 weeks. Saw my "fill nurse" yesterday who believes I'm just fine. She was great to just sit down and talk to me for awhile. She believes I'm fine with my band just need to be doing my share of the work. Guess the band can't do it all.

So I am back on board with measuring my food, only 3 meals a day with no Snacks and no artificial sugars.

I will give it another month then we will decide if I really need a fill. With me doing the journey the right way. We'll back to the gym I go.

I sure wish this was easier. Hahhaaha

Why are they delaying a fill? Have you had a fill yet? Just curious...I am newly banded, but thought fills were a key part of the band "working" for you?? My band is still empty but scheduled for a fill at the 4 week mark (in 6 days).

Hi Lu, great post and good luck with upping the exercise. I am pretty sure that is a major key to success. Sometimes I wish I could just be tied on to the treadmill or something. Have not been able to convert over to wanting to do it, but I do feel great after I've worked out. It's so worth it but each day I have to make myself. But here's to that, the doing it anyway. Results will be fantastic. Best wishes to you!

I agree that you should be exercising and eating the right amounts. If you're not in the green zone, where your physical hunger is controlled, why would she not do a fill? Sounds like you know that the band doesn't do the work for you, but if properly filled, it is an excellent tool.

Yep we have to work at it. I was banded in 2011 and over time picked up some of my old habits. We are a work in progress !

I saw my doc on Monday thinking I would get a fill. Not sure how I feel about it, but weight loss is acceptable and I had the option of to fill or not to fill and chose not to cuz I felt I needed to be following more of the rules. Fills won't stop you from cheating and eating around the band and you certainly don't want to be too tight.

This sounds like me regarding the fill. I am crossing my fingers for a fill friday. I do not overeat and exercise like crazy but am losing slow and hungry between meals. Good luck to you for wanting to get back on track.

So true, any thing over 5 cc for me is too tight. So, I have to control the old fashioned way! But, it is much easier when your band says, "no, you are not eating anymore."!

I feel back in control! Lost 4 lbs this week. Best I've done in a long time. I'm going to work the program as long as I can before scheduling a fill. Guess the RN was right on with her no fill advise. Go figure. Lol.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
