To me this is the best of the Forums: "Change from living to eat to eat to live." Now that is the healthy aim in my elderly years! We worked hard in my early years on the dairy farm. There was always the reward of really good food. (Printed in cement in my phylogenies by Parents of the old school.) Change is necessary and Labandtalk.com is a super tool. Thanks for being here!

I haven't read the other responses you've gotten so what I'm about to say may have already been mentioned. I was pretty much in the same boat as you: I'd eat out of boredom or because it was there. I bought the wrong things for my home, prepared the wrong meals, snacked too much...blah, blah, blah. After I got the band, things changed. I believe much of it was psychological, but a big part of it was indeed physical. I no longer crave bad foods (except during THAT time of the month) and I eat far less than I ever would have pre-band. While I don't always make perfect choices and yes, I do indulge in Snacks from time to time the truth of the matter is it's impossible to consume the amount of calories I use to, therein I continue to lose the weight even when I'm not at my best. That is not to say that I can just go hog wild with eating or drinking the wrong things for days on end - I can't, I don't allow myself to do that because I feel guilty. At my worst, I've gained 2 lbs during splurges - the beauty of the band is once you get back on track, those pounds are gone in a few days and I'm on the right path again.

She's not magic, but Miss Pearlie is the answer to a problem that has plagued me my entire life - the endless cycle of poor eating choices, fad diets, weight losses and equal gains. I'm happy I got the band, my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner.

Good luck!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
