Nervous About Weight Loss!

Recommended Posts

I am starting to get a little nervous myself I had surgery on 10/15 of this year and as of today my total weight lost has been 37lbs. I get kinda scared because I go into the Dr. office excited about being below 200 finally and a week and a half later I only lose 3 lbs. Has this been the case for anyone else? Should I be concerned yet?

I am losong very wery slowly, too, and my doctor keeps reminding me that this is NOT a race, so chill. As long as you are losing slowly and following the docs orders and are Healthy, life is good. Be patient with yourself and enjoy the ride!

Normal weight loss is at 20 or so pounds the first month and an average of 10lbs a month after anything more than that your losing at a fast pace what it looks like you are. IT WILL end up averaging out. Meaning a few months down the line it will seem like you lost 10 lbs a month. I lost like 20 something pounds my first month and then 10 each after. I am now 57lbs lost I had surgery in July and I am close to being 5 months out. I had the sleeve not plication though. Don't worry I noticed to me losing a not as fast has preserved my hair, and other issues others who lost more than I have are having.

thanks for the info guys its very encouraging! I am on a 800 cal diet including 40grams of Protein (or at least try) I love Water but it has to be freezing cold. As far as exercise, its kinda hard with two jobs and a grandbaby at home. I work from 6am - 1030pm and on my feet for the majority of the time, as much as I would like to try to wake up earlier to get at least an hour in of exercise, sleep, is maybe what I need being post-op six weeks today. I'll have to work on that huh?

Hi all, I guess I am right along with all of you too. I am down 20 lbs first month. I had gastric sleeve 11/3/12. I feel like I'm not losing any more and I do get hungry every 2 to 3 hours. I plan on joining excercise class through the hospital and the first month is free. I'll let you know how its going.

Anjapep23 - I know now being 7 wks post-op that it is not important about the number it is the way you are losing it. I didnt relize it at the time I posted this that everyone feels the same once we have the surgery. I have been overweight for almost 15 years and the surgery has changed the way I eat and the way I now value my health. So not only is it changing the way I look it is also keeping me here on earth a little longer. The weight loss will happen if we are willing to change our old ways. This is why I love this site, we need one another to keep us motivated and keep moving forward, so if the weight loss number is lower one week than the other always remember its still getting lower! ! Hope this helps and keep smiling :)

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
