surgery date- and now SCARED TO DEATH!

Recommended Posts

I'm scared of the death aspect too.. but if I stay big, and don't do the surgery, I could die from being so obese also. It's worth the risk, most definitely.

Ok people. We know there are risks. But let's try and keep in mind that the death rate world wide is 0.1%. Thats still a risk of course but once we've decided and chosen a good team, we must focus on the positive effect this surgery will have on our lives. Good luck to us all :-) Lx

i was a bag of nerves when i got my band done. Right before surgery they gave me a shot through my IV and made everything better! lol It was instant happiness and worry free.

I wasn't really that nervous before getting the band. Maybe just a little nervous... but I do remember that shot LOL

Did you get the revision to RNY?

No slippage but developed a hiatial hernia and had to get unfilled. Couldn't keep anything down while filled, even spit was difficult. Hoping for a late nov, early dec surgery date.

I can relate, my surgery is scheduled for October 23, I was so excited as the months went by and got closer to Oct, but now I am a nervous wreck.

I'm sure we we will all be fine, and so happy as the weight falls off.

I had great success with the band. The hernia messed it all up for me. I lost 90 lbs the first 9 months with the band. Started at 365; lowest was 250; currently 329; goal 215.. ill keep u posted with updates. Add me as a friend so its easier to find you.

Yeah, it sure is scary going from the band to RNY. That is all that is on my mind and i'm not even sure yet if I'm going to do it all together and maybe just have them take the band out. I keep going back and forth in my head... am I ready for this? I was so gung ho before I got the band.. now, i'm that the surgery is scheduled and I pushed to get it... i'm like can I handle this mentally? Like i'm just not 100% positive.... it's hour by hour for me... LOL

You know, I can relate b/c I feel the exact same way. TERRIFIED of just the thought of it. I felt the same way w/ the band. I wish I had listened and did RNY in the first place but it was the fear that led me to the band. This is my last chance and my diabetes may not wait on me to keep procrastinating before complications start. I must do this for my health and it would be nice to look good too. I'm tired of changing clothes 4-5 times before going to work b/c of not looking good in whatever I put on. We are all in this together. LET'S DO THIS!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
